What's your ideal spin-off /who/?

>metacrisis 10 and Rose grow a TARDIS and somehow get back into the universe
>they meet Jenny and Jackson Lake
>they form some sort of Torchwood task team
>"The Three Almost-Doctors"
Written by RTD, basically it's a noughties Who nostalgia show with Martha, Mickey, Jack and the Slitheen, Ood, Cybusmen etc all returning. It could be an alternative to Jodie Who for people who don't want to watch the main show anymore. It could also wrap up the unfinished SJA plotlines. You could throw in the odd crossover (maybe Clara and Ashildr or Bill and Heather turn up for an episode) but they'd be mostly self-contained.

It jumps between three subplots. One is about 12 in the future trying to deal with malfunctioning telepathy technology. One is about 11 in the present day, homeless, having bizarre visions. Another is about 7 subjecting an enemy to an extremely long punishment. It'll all tie together towards the end.

>>
>>85311113

What did it get wrong? I disagree with the sentiment that we shouldn't insult each other because shitposting is my favorite passtime but everything in the comic was spot on. The only thing you can blame it for is saying that we shouldn't use terms like neckbeard, bitch or cunt, but everything about the hypocrisy of using the word and who the word actually "harms" is spot on.

>>85312770

The 2016 gap never should have happened. They had a great 2 seasons and then wasted Capaldi's time. He could have been the Doctor for 4 seasons instead of 3. Coming back with a subpar season like 10 didn't help it's ratings either.

>>
>>85313307

Monk trilogy was awful and Bill was a non-character whose only purpose was to remind everyone how diverse the show had become.

8 and 9 didn't really have any bad episodes, maybe less than stellar but nothing offensively bad (except Kill the Moon) and had a lot of great ones like Mummy, Listen and Heaven Sent. Even the less good ones were still great, like the heist episode.

Looking back on Clala now, I actually like her a lot more now that /tv/'s group think is wearing off. Clara was what I wanted from Rory (that exchange with 11 in The Girl Who Waited when he said 11 was turning him into the Doctor gave me chills but never went anywhere) and River but never got because Moffat had his head up his ass with le epic twists. A character who travels with the Doctor and ends up becoming like him too much. She was also the only romance with the Doctor that made sense. She wasn't a naive chav, or some convoluted half-time lady criminal, she was just someone who stayed a very long time with the doctor until the two started getting dependent on each other. Rewatching 8 and 9 and seeing all the subtle romantic clues like Clara telling 12 she loved him or 12 saying he thought they were a couple endeared her to me more now than when I first saw it.

So yeah, 8/9 were pretty good seasons. 10 was filled with nonsense and had a really bad middle part. I also don't understand the fascination with Nardole, call my taste bad or whatever, but every time I see that freakish ugly face I wonder why the actor wasn't aborted.
>>
What would your reaction be if Jodie Whittacker's Doctor dressed in fashions reminiscent of those worn by the woman in either the 1920's or the 1960's and the new theme for the show is a snazzy jazz remix of the main theme?

>Zygon was alright
Zygon was fucking trash. It's some of the worst writing in the show to date. Characters are reduced to utter retards so the plot can move forward, the plot is utter nonsense that doesn't even try to remain within the show's established rules, tonally it's miles off the base of Doctor Who, and the message is so hamfisted and terribly delivered that it makes me embarrassed for agreeing with it. Harness cannot write for Doctor Who, as he has proven time and time again.
>Face the Raven was a bit boring
It was the most inoffensive of the bunch, and admittedly has a decent start. But calling it good is a stretch.
>Hell Bent was fine
Nah. It was a terrible send-off to a companion I didn't even dislike like the majority of this general seems to.

9 was my favorite Series as well. 10's a close second.

I think I'd describe them as:

Moffat, I liked his episodes under RTD, and his initial series were alright, but around 7 and 8 he started to get to clever for his own good. 9 and 10 did pick up though, so I'm hopeful for the christmas special

>Zygon's second part was good
No it wasn't. I'll let you people enjoy Raven and Bent, since admittedly there are redeeming qualities in them, and I can see how and why Bent can be divisive. But Zygon was pure unfiltered trash from start to finish and I cannot for the life of me understand how anyone can think otherwise. It is the sole worst episode of the show to date in my eyes.
>>
>>85313795
Oooooh, I thought you didn't miss Clara.
>>
>>85313590
>Monk trilogy was awful
It was, but it is nothing compared to the slew of garbage episodes that both Series 8 and 9 had on offer, (Robot of Sherwood, Kill the fucking Moon, In the Forest of the Night, Under the Lake, Before the Flood, The Zygon Invasion/Inversion, Hell Bent).

>Bill was a non-character whose only purpose was to remind everyone how diverse the show had become.
If you want to be taken seriously, stop reciting this trite. It's simply untrue, and Bill fits the "Bill" of the traditional Who companion better than Clara could've ever hoped to.

>but every time I see that freakish ugly face I wonder why the actor wasn't aborted.
And you expect people to take you seriously? Don't be a fucking twat, lad.

It's a figure of speech pal. Sorry if I made you feel insecure about your taste in TV.

>>85313834
I can't see why you think it's the worst episode of the show. Even if some of the set up was mediocre, the metaphor for war- two boxes that at the end turn out to not be anything at all- is so perfect and to the Doctor's character that it only heighten's his speech.

I genuinely don't understand why you hate it so much. It'd be fair hatred if there was absolutely nothing to like about the episode, but the last third of it is pretty GOAT.

Deep Breath is still one of the weaker episodes after 3 years. It's just so wrong tonally and it's paced so badly it hurts. Actual story starts into 40 minutes and before that it's mostly 12th acting like an idiot and slapstick humour with Strax. Last 10 minutes dialogue is great but I had a strong feeling like it had to be attached to a real episode and not THIS.

Nothing to do with that, and there is plenty of running. They're just a mess of bad ideas that don't fit Doctor Who or didn't fit Doctor Who for being poorly executed.
Feels like the entire writing staff grew cynical for those series and it really showed in the scripts.

Did anyone watch Deep Breath in the cinema? I didn't although I did for the 50th.

I did. I was pretty pissed off actually, since the cinema version was in 21:9, but since they didn't film it like that, you just got a cropped version of the TV broadcast.
I think you're right about the gags though, it definitely feels like it was written with it being shown in cinemas in mind.
