Directors direct individual episodes. Producers hire people and find the money for everything.

Showrunners decide the director of the show. They are responsible for the plot, and aside individual episodes to individual writers.

This is why these 4 Marvel shows are of such varying degrees of quality instead of all homogenous.

Does anyone actually LIKE Falling Skies? I went to comic-con in Seattle a few years ago and the place was wallpapered with Falling Skies ads, like it was the geek holy grail or something. Like it was something Hollywood THINKS geeks like, but got it all wrong, no clue who was watching that shit.

They're the ones who map out the story all season, and since one person can't write 13 episodes of TV in that time frame, they have other writers on staff to write individual eps. So there might have been certain episodes of Iron Fist that were good (anything involving Colleen in the fighting pits), but mostly it was just shit, plotted by someone who doesn't have any talent.

I'm shocked this got a second season. I thought Danny would have been relegated to a supporting character on Luke Cage's show. They really took the character's dignity when he couldn't beat a thug one on one while Daredevil can beat up half a dozen of them.

The first six eps of Daredevil before that were Drew Goddard, who left to work on a Sinister Six movie that still hasn't happened.

Those were kino. Perfect tone, deliberate pacing, exquisite fight scenes. Once he left the show was still pretty good, but not the epic experiment we started with.

I like the character, first of all. I didn't mind Fin (didn't like him much either desu), liked the villains, could tolerate the 'fights', liked the side characters (bestward), liked the love interest (luke cage ruined misty for me).

It wasn't perfect, of course, but I blew through it with a pleasant feeling of satisfaction.

Good first step. Buck is a terrible showrunner, ruined Dexter and messed up the first season of Iron Fist.

The plot didn't even make sense. Daddy Meachum literally hired a guy who does nothing but Google shit for him. Motivations for characters changes from episode to episode. In one ep, Ward's the bad guy, in the next episode he's the good guy saving Danny from ninjas or whatever.

I'm not gonna sit here and try argue that you're wrong for liking something you like, but I just don't see the appeal when the other three shows are so clearly superior (and 100% of Danny's fight scenes were so shit).
