Why do movies and shows always have to have romance in them? Most of the time it feels super out of place and forced. I mean they'll have a "love interest" just someone who our protagonist will get with for some reason. They just have to find this moment to kiss and such. IF there was genuine chemistry in terms of the plot then it would be totally fine, but there just isn't almost all of the time. So why is this?

People are engrossed by observing someone else's relationship. People want to know what a relationship is like so they can prepare for one in the real world.
Life simulating future.

If it was a romance movie I'd get it but they force it into such unnecessary movies like action flicks and the likes.

I like Edge after Tomorrow because the romance is only hinted at to happen after the movie is over.
