It actually makes sense when you realize it is an erotic love story between Andy and Morgan Freeman

I fucking hate the kind of shitty mindset OP has. He goes into a movie that is widely-regarded as a masterpiece, likely with this in mind, and then it doesn't live up to whatever expectations he sets for "masterpiece".
