What was with every fucking plane battle shot the same way?

>plan zips by
>show pilot
>show plane in sights
>show pilot
>fire machine guns
>POOF WHITE SMOKE TRAIL
>plane goes down.

Every single fucking time.

No fire coming out of engines. No wings blown off. No planes destroyed by ANY flak cannons from ships. No pieces flying off the plane when taking heavy fire.

Fuck, I hate to say this, but Peal Harbor had better scenes.
