I think that that's actually Coop's problem, like, they made him too perfect and now they're trying to compensate with as many Coops as possible, what were old Coop's flaws anyways?

Well, he didn't seem to know what he wanted. One minute he's guarded and acts like he can never get close to anyone ever again, the next he's jumping this formerly suicidal nun just because she's hot and quirky and surprise surprise, he gets so overinvested and emotional that it affects his better judgment and makes him act like a retard while Windom Earle accomplishes everything he set out to do.

Realistically, Cooper had zero flaws in the old series. None, at least, that can't be attributed to bad writing (passing over Audrey for Worst Girl, for instance). He was just such a great, sincere, intelligent boyscout that they had to sort of clumsily add in that "I have a troubled past" kind of deal.

I didn't like his "funny trickster" stuff. I liked it when he kidnapped Garland. Also I think it was brilliant they used Windom to make BOB look even more evil and spooky.
>>85237255
Part of the magic of season 1 in particular was that Lynch made masterful use of the throw-away bit.
I don't get the furor over finding and stopping BOB. He possesses one person at a time and causes really small scale damage and destruction. Obviously Laura's life was ruined, which is tragic, and a whole town of people were really sad about her dying which is miserable, but didn't Leland/BOB kill under five people in his whole life?
Why is the struggle to stop BOB portrayed as such a huge deal?

Right, but it's not like he's running around blowing up buildings or committing genocides. Which is, again, kind of odd for the reasons you described. For the same reasons you just described, why just possess one guy for decades and do like three fucked up things repeatedly? And if he has no need or intention of expanding his murderous activity, what's the big deal with the Black Lodge? BOB was done very weirdly, I thought.
>>85237915
I also get what you mean. I just feel like the anxiety over BOB is cast as this momentous, cosmological thing. I found the whole situation kind of odd on the first watching.

There isn't much furor about stopping Bob in Season 3, though. They just want to find Cooper (because he's done some shady shit and has been missing for ages).
In the original series / FWWM, MIKE wants to stop BOB because he was stealing garmonbozia. MIKE and BOB are different entities and work together on the contract that BOB shares the pain and sorrow which he generates.
It's less about "BOB" being bad for our world, and more about the role BOB plays in the Lodge ecosystem.
>>85238046
>why just possess one guy for decades and do like three fucked up things repeatedly?
He was raping Leland's daughter methodically for years to the point where she had to turn to drugs and prostitution to cope. BOB's not trying to be a capeshit villain, he just wants to feed off pain wherever he can get it. I imagine he leeched off of Laura's pretty well up until she died, and if he had his way, he would've used her to cause even more of it. Keep in mind that Laura's extremely well connected and beloved in the community, so she would've been a perfect vessel.
I get the feeling that BOB is sort of akin to Pennywise in IT while Twin Peaks is like Derry. He wants to use the town as his feeding ground. Why expand beyond that when he has a good, comfortable thing going where he is?
>>85237856
Bob hogs all the garmonbozia and doesnt follow black lodge rules because hes basically a wild animal

It's okay, they're probably the most confusing (and interesting to analyze) aspect of Twin Peaks. The morality of the Lodge spirits is a lot less black and white than it appears.
Why wasn't the white lodge ever brought up back again but the black is now like the main core of the series?
>>85238438
The Giant is implied to be from the White Lodge, and if the retarded fan theories are correct, it's the black and white castle we've been seeing in s3.
>>85238399
>S3
>Big success
heh
>>85238438
We haven't seen the Black Lodge yet, all we've seen is the Red Room. The Black Lodge is when the Red Room goes dark and starts flashing with strobe lights (something only seen in the S2 finale). We're yet to see that in S3.
Windom Earle's character had some of the best music in the show associated with him
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IAzKYUtvWno
>>85238399
FWWM is better than S3, though. So far, S3 would have worked better with more time restrictions. I'm enjoying it, but I still think it would be better if Lynch had gone with less episodes.

>>85238537

>>85238501
why is it that the Giant was present in the black lodge looking smug as hell when Cooper first went in? and why is it that the evil spirits in the Black Lodge are now basically rooting for him and trying to guide him the same way that the giant did in s2? why the switch from the sphinxlike evil shit in episode 22 to the sort of distant goodnatured stuff now?
>>85238607
Maybe she wasn't referring to the black, after all, we first see him with the giant on the start of S3, maybe he gets brought back like a transition place between the lodges and the real world
>>8523839
>S3
>Big success

>>85238637
>why is it that the evil spirits in the Black Lodge are now basically rooting for him and trying to guide him the same way that the giant did in s2?
Certain cunt was supposed to go back and he didn't, maybe they want Coop to do the dirty work for them
>>85238607
>then why did annie say that cooper was stuck in the lodge
Because Windom Earle thought it was The Black Lodge, when in reality, Windom Earle didn't know a lot of things, which is why he got killed by Bob
>>85238637
they need doppelcoop/BOB to return to the black lodge like theyr'e supposed to, and for whatever reason coop is the only one that can do it
one can assume that either the giant switched sides or he was always neutral and was trying to help coop the whole time but cant stop being cryptic as fuck

Presumably, BOB escaping the Lodge in Cooper's doppelganger meant that their source of Garmonbozia is cut off completely (because BOB won't return to the Lodge to give it back, instead he'll take it for himself).
This is reflected in the Arm. Notice how he's now some skeletal emaciated tree thing who can barely talk. Maybe this is because he's been starved of garmonbozia? He wants BOB to come back into the Lodge so they can get garmonbozia back into their system.
According to IMDB, Everett McGill will appear in episodes 14 & 16-18. He'll have a nice snooze at the Comic-Con panel.

no because that was Windom Earle talking, and as we know, Windom Earle didn't know as much about the Black Lodge as he thought he did considering he got his soul taken by Bob. Windom Earle was arrogant, and didn't realize that some of the information he researched could have been inaccurate.

I agree with his. Some scenes drag on for way too long and are not entertaining, not aesthetically striking or move the plot forward. Lynch definitely feels a bit self-indulgent in Season 3, a bit too improvisational for my taste.

why the hell is everything so bleak?
and what does hiroshima have to do with bob
>>85245469
I don't think his cancer had anything to do with affecting his performance, and I think it had more to do with the writing. People tend to get mellow when they get older, and I think the writing reflects that. It's been 25 years since we saw Albert last, him being exactly the same would be weird. He wouldn't have as much energy considering he's older

I believe that to reflect the weariness and toll that time's taken upon him.
His dismissive acerbity would be highly unlikely to remain at such a disdainful level for so long. That shit saps the mind and body like nothing else.
>I read someone say the new series is watered down Lynch
That such a weird thing to say, considering he has complete control over this series.Sounds like something you'd call the original series, since he didn't have complete control. I don't think something watered down is necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes just a taste of something is enough. And it's entirely normal for a creator to create something that's completely himself and people just not liking it. It happens all the time.
When should the comic con leaks be out?.

>hiroshima
>>85246002
He's already shown us glimpses (part 8 in particular) of how utterly stupid a remark that'd be to make until we've actually seen s3 in its entirety.
>>85246074
This, episode 8 showed us that this is practically the Prequels of Twin Peaks. No one is telling him anything or consulting him.
>>85242247
>sweet and genuinely kind
>believes in the best of others
>has this weird contrasting thing going on where he looks put together and professional yet really twinky and delicate which is weirdly hot
I honestly don't think the character would have worked as well if he had been played by anyone but Kyle and at that stage in his life.
>>85239460
I never thought about it like that.... Neat!
What if Bob is the only one of the black lodge spirits that can actually create garmonbozia?

Lynch and Frost had complete creative control over Season 1 too and that turned out fantastic.

They still had limitations on what they could show on television at that point in time. While true there are still limitations, you now basically have can have free reign without worrying about censors on certain networks.
is the comic-con event today?

We need to change James's perception, hating him is so reddit
>>85247425
hating any original character is reddit
it's not a case that the people that hate them are younger ones which love all the ones from season 3
>>85247217
JUST YOOOOOOOOOUWhat would your reaction be?
The amount of times reddit is referenced within these pages concerns me. For something so contemptible and inconsequential, it certainly appears to be rather frequently on the minds of certain individuals ITT.

How will Lynch fans recover?
They can't escape this plot hole. "LYNCHED" isn't going to get them out of this one.
>>85247897
D-delete this
TP S3 is an alternative universe where Lucy never used a phone. There, LYNCHED.
>>85247897
It's clearly Frost's mistakes so it doesn't count
>watching Twin Peaks for the story and narrative for the directing and imagery
LYNCHED
>>85247804
>Lucy talked on a cell phone
she didn't talk on a cellphone, Andy did
and maybe she didn't realize he was on a cellphone. She only had her freak out when she saw Frank with it.
>>85247860
>Cooper is not Cooper
>Andy and Lucy are unrecognizable
>James had one scene
>Shelly had like 2 scenes
>Jacoby and Nadine the same
I guess he's doing something with Bobby and Hawk but this is really disappointing
>>85247960
that doesn't even work because Lynch loves his stories, which is why he tells him. People need to stop this "turn off your brain, don't think or speculate" crap, saying Lynch doesn't want people to think or wonder.
>>85247960
Haha
Pass the buck faggot.
Your God Lynch fucked up and there is nothing you can do about it.
>>85248044
*them, not him
>>85248066
it's easily explainable, you dingus
>>85248000
Also, it's stated in the show that this wasn't the first time she's done that. It's probably happened many times through the evolution and popularity of the cellphone
>there are people on /tv/ who genuinely think that GoT is excellent television and Twin Peaks is hack shit
How does this make you feel?

>>85249236
I don't know, I stopped it at the scene with the lady with the red dress
>>85249328
As an addendum, I agree with Kermode's assessment whole-heartedly.
>>85249388
baby can't handle a little surrealism, why are you even here?
>>85249388
So you barely made it 5 minutes in?
>>85249505
I can deal with surrealism when it makes sense for it to be there.
Like in the lodge it makes perfect sense or when you are portraying otherworldy things like in episode 8.
But apparently that lady is standard FBI procedure in normal world.
FWWM feeks like a really fucked up reverse harem anime
CUTERER!!
>>85249565
I wouldn't know. Anime's for utter spastics.
>>85249714
I can't decide if I prefer her as a slutty blonde, or a bookish, blackhaired, innocent.
I imagine D. Lynch was able to experience both to the fullest extent.
>>85249763
Maddie is superior
>>85250174
Yeah, but if you asked her for some Coke she'd go to the refrigerator. Straight and pure is all well and good when you want a wife, but it's pretty fucking dull when you just want to screw around.
>>85249558
The whole point of that lady is Lynch making fun of people who think absolutely everything in his works has some specific meaning; the conversation afterwards in the car makes this perfectly clear.
You were more directly and literally LYNCHED than anyone I've seen
Also
>surrealism when it makes sense for it to be there
then it's not surrealism m8y
>>85250498
I don't know how to explain it to be honest.
Like, I am perfectly fine with Bowie's scene later or all the others and is only the scene with red lady that rubbed me off the wrong way.
>>85250578
That is super bizarre. No idea how you're triggered by Lil and fine with the far more bizarre scene with Phillip Jeffries.
Just out of curiosity, are you enjoying season 3?
>>85250625
Yes, I am liking it until now.
>>85243812
Season 2 was a casual filter
>>85250578
>Like, I am perfectly fine
>Like, I am
>Like
Jesus christ.
>>85250650
huh, odd again. Well, not sure why ya hate lil so much, it's just a goofy thing making fun of people who scour Lynch's works thinking every little bit of weirdness has a direct and literal meaning.
Nonsense like how Cole calling her "my mother sister's girl" is code for "the sherrif's uncle is in prison" and her blinking with both eyes meaning "trouble higher up," combined with super stupidly simple code like "a tailored dress is code for drugs." I always found it pretty funny
>>85243812
>doesn't include streaming numbers
yeah how many people in this thread right now watch the show on their TV thru a cable box? i'm guessing not many
somebody make a new thread and put this shit out of its misery already
>>85250698
Is that wrong? I admit I took that expression from speaking with other people
Guys I think hilldawg was in the black lodge
>>85250174
>not wanting to protect Laura
Maddy was boring as fuck
All that scene basically is is poking fun at hand gestures/body language/visual communication that government agencies use, but in the scene, it's exaggerated. They do this to keep the information secret, but end up looking suspicious and like retards in the processes.
>>85250849
Laura was was a dead horse with a loose vagina. At least with Maddy, you could corrupt her and she was tight.
