Misunderstood genius or moronic memelord?

he's pretty genius, especially the foreshadowing when talking to mark on the roof about cheating women.
even though he wrote the movie, he;s able to play his character as a person who does not know his GF is cheating on him

he came to the US with nothing, had no education, no connections, was severely handicapped by whatever is wrong with him, and he still became independently wealthy and got to live out his dreams.

tommy won at life. he is unironically a huge inspiration to me.

A guy with money that made a horrible movie. Ok now you need to understand the second part, at the time memeing was in its larvae stage and a group of hipsters found this movie and they thought it would be hilarious to like it ironically doing sing a longs, viewing events etc and so all the lonely people that needed to be part of something decided to join these hipsters.

Tommy is just happy to be making money, for all we know he really thinks the movie is a piece of shit but he goes along with the meme.

To summarize, the movie was meant to be serious, became a meme, now the meme becomes mainstream (you know like hating Keanu was a thing for a while?) and then will fade away.
