why does everyone hate this? it wasn't that bad

I think people expected it to be exactly like the videogame.

Now, I'm not saying it shouldn't have followed the game more closely, but it's an interesting movie in its own right.

I always dug the Goomba design.

The only thing wrong with it was using the Mario license. On its own, it's basically "Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome" for kids.
