How big is your physical media collection?
Small
>>85205055
I have a few DVDs, but the majority of my physical media is comprised of the entirety of Babylon 5 taped on VHS.
>not being on any private tracker
LMAOing @ ur live
About 1000 DVD and Blu-Ray
This big.
I have like 30 n64/ps2 games and a dvd of sin city that was given to me. Physical media truly is the best
>>85205055
>Click, Hitch, Fantastic 4, Happy Feet and one of the shitty Ice Age sequels on fucking Blu Ray
Why
Also I don't have many DVDs, I sold a lot of them years ago, most of my collection is Jackass, CKY, Oz and some Disney movies and shitty direct-to-DVD kids movies from when I was a kid that my mother keeps for my nephew.
its five of these suitcases in size, got a few thousand DVDs and Blu-Rays in there. fuck keeping the cases they take up too much room.

Too big, and I just broke my fucking TV so now I don't know why I've wasted so much time and money on this shit. Help me /tv/. What stays and what goes?
Too big. I just moved house and filled up several boxes with DVDs. I don't realise how much useless crap I have so I'm taking them all to goodwill and becoming a pirate.
12 kinos
I bought a few dvd 200 films collections last year at a bargain price. 600 movies (maybe 575 since some have a duplicate in the other collections).
I love old b-movies.
I have piratebay bookmarked on my browser, does that count?
Haven't bought any physical release in perhaps a decade, but there are definitely a few on the available in the arrowvideo sale that have me getting the itch.
>>85205055
[spoilers]The vast majority of my physical media are video games.
>>85207972
I bought a half dozen Arrow U.S. titles on sale recently
>>85205055
right now i have only 2 maybe i will buy a couple more in the future
I dont have much room for it because it is full with video games
>>85207781
Why so many shit movies?
>>85205055
This is the only physical media I own.
I have a ton of vhs tapes. Many don't have a dvd transfer yet (they might never get one beside a shitty rip by some random guy).
I tried to tranfer them myself, but the quality became so piss poor that I'd rather watch them on a my old vcr.
>>85207781
You look like the retard that will buy any new release on the racks at Wal-Mart, Secret Life of Walter Mitty? Seriously? And you have money trouble? Lol.
>>85205172
impressive.
>>85208305
>>85208460
Which ones in particular? Stuff like Spy or Walter Mitty were bought on a whim to watch once and then to be sold back. I buy all my stuff second-hand which reduces the cost down to a couple a bucks a movie. But that's also why I'm asking what do I get rid of?
>>85205172
*tip*
>>85207781
Use a tablet, your pc's screen, etc. instead of your old tv until you buy a new one.
In fact, an old monitor would do a better job than most tv.
>>85208606
There's some gems in the bottom left but other than that it's all shit
>>85205055
Just one.
On my 18th birthday my grandpa gave me a porn DVD called Ass Worship (I told him I thought butts > boobs like a year before). As I unwrapped it he said to me "you're a man now, its time to watch a man's movie". Anyway he's dead now and I'm a kissless virgin at 26. But hey at least I've got something to help me cry on command, most actors can't even do that.
>>85208982
>>85208649
Yeah, I've got all those but no way to hook up my blu-ray player to those screens. I'm just gonna make do for now and maybe focus my attention elsewhere. Hence, why trying to declutter a lot of my crap.
>>85208675
Any better now. Got rid of quite a few to resell. Here's a better pic.
>>85205055
I threw all that shit away like 8 or 9 years ago.
I have an external HDD where I have my whole collection on it.
>takes up less space
>doesn't collect dust
>>85209570
I hope you have a copy. I lost mine after it physically broke for no reason. No way to retrieve the data (at least no cost effective way), it was that damaged. I got a new one for free because it was a flaw in fabrication, but I lost everything I had on it.
You can't trust streaming services because they keep dropping stuff. I think it is better to get physical media CD DVD Bluray and then sell it on when you are finished and don't want to keep it.
Those I keep I put into the zip up storage cases that you can put 160 into a case the size of an old hardback encyclopedia.
I have some backups on hdd but I always have backups in at least 2 hdd in case one dies. I am looking into bluray discs for extra backup because other anons think they are a good idea.

>>85210049
This is why I pick physical media at the end of the day anon. Because services like Netflix routinely get rid of good content and you aren't guaranteed to still be able to watch a lot of your stuff. I'm sick of people acting like streaming is the be all, end all of consumerism with movies and shows.
Also, the quality isn't as good compared to blu ray or even a lot of dvd's of course. Especially in the sound department. When I want to watch a great work of cinema or even an enjoyable horror flick or something, I want it in the best version possible.
Plus, all those delicious special features, commentaries and cases/covers/booklets. It's not just watching a movie, it's an experience and I'm sick of people not taking that into account or acknowledging how awful the loss of these things are if we stick to a digital future.
>>85210711
I just download 1080p Bluray rips with DTS sound
its just around 9 - 13 GB per movie.
if movie is shit = delete
if movie turns into my favorite = keep on HDD
thats the plan at least
pic related is current folder build, but I have to clean up a bit since many shitmovies somehow found their way into my collection.
(they also have both the english and german sound track and subtitles)

>>85205055
Small cause I invariably give my shit to my friends. Nothing I've given away is stupendously rare or valuable so I can always buy, rent, or torrent shit if I want to see it again. Would much rather be able to gush about shit w/ a friend than own it
>>85205055
I own about 2000 DVDs. Haven't bought any new ones in about ten years though. They're just not even worth selling for the most part, though I have sold a few of the more valuable ones. I got £350 for an Ingmar Bergman collection I had a couple of years ago.
>>85211492
>he doesn't buy his movies on iTunes to watch on his Apple TV or iPad
I'm laughing, old man.
>>85210711
Also about streaming; it's renting.
Whether it's movies, tv, games, software, etc. it all seems to be going digital only with a monthly fee
Companies no longer like the idea of someone only paying a one time lump sum for their product (physical media), so they do this to milk you for as much as they can, which is also why many games aren't 100% complete on release anymore, you gotta buy it in instalments.
And not only can Netflix remove titles at will, they can also edit content, take out what is deemed "offensive", they can't do that to your Blurays.
>>85211821
Yeah, I don't trust those vermin with my money.
I’m down to 20-30 movies and disc based games. I have a few n64 games and my snes collection. All fits into one bookbag.
Everything else is digital and mostly pirated. When i got banned on xbox back on the 360 days i realized you dont own your digital content and you can lose it all without warning, so why bother giving these companies my money? Most games ive bought have an online component or an mmo and i buy em from cd sites.
About 1000 blurays at the moment.
Set up a 40TB Server, and am slowly ripping them all to it to run via Plex.
I am going to buy me some more DVD wallets. I could buy them online but I am going to buy them the next time I go to the mall. The stores prices are similar when you remember the postage cost online and we need to support real life stores over the online monopolies.
It's alright. I also have a few DVDs in a box somewhere that I never watch.

I've probably got about half a billion cd's and dvd's in various envelopes tucked away in my cabinet. I've purchased a few in more recent years, mostly obscure shit that I couldn't get decent quality versions of through other channels.
Never got around to buying a blu-ray player, because by the time that became available it was already obvious physical media was a dead man walking.

how does this affect me? Im not streaming anything.
Physical media has its own problems.
>losing the media
>scratching or otherwise having the media break, rendering perfect playback impossible
>storing the media, the more you have the harder it is to find unless you do some dewy decimal shit
>have to put the media into the media player every time, may or may not have to rewind
>paying for physical copies (lel)
>returning it within a deadline if you're renting it

In about 10 years once physical copies of movies are a thing of the past and everything is done online or OnDemand, and Hollywood no longer lets you buy your own copy of the movie and instead only lets you rent them for a 24 hour period for $14.99, people are really going to regret being too cheap, and lazy to keep physical media around
