I just hope they went back to the "stuck in one room or building" formula. those are the comfiest types of films, I hated the ones where they keep moving locations. Just put two people in a room based Wan.

It's not going to be like that. The girl drowning in the grain silo is the girl second from the left in that picture. Looks like one plot of the movie will be these five people going through a series of traps on a farm. The other plot will be the detectives trying to identify the copycat.

They said they're putting an emphasize on "fun" for this one, they want it to be a "great Halloween scarefest". That's not to say it's going to be a parody of itself or a comedy, it's just during the traps rather than trying to make you squirm they probably want you to be applauding and cheering like when Campbell chainsaws his hand in Evil Dead. Which I think is the smartest move after 7 was basically a parody of itself. Nowadays people are pretty desensitized to violence, so trying to make people squirm is a moot point. So it sounds like the traps will be more fun than overly cruel.

It's one of the worst movie franchises in history. It's gore-porn for edgy teens with personality disorders disguised as pseudo-intellectual bullshit about "muh appreciation for le life" and "le people deserve to be maimed and/or brutally killed for le trivial crimes". Characters and story are shallow and uninteresting but of course that was never really the point of the series; each installment is just a test to see what new gimmicks they can come up with and shove on screen with the most obnoxious camerawork imaginable. Anybody who finds these films "fun" obviously isn't quite right in the head.
