I've only been on /tv/ for about 3 years and 4chan for 5; but the discussion on here is fine right before the show starts and after the season ends.

But when the show actually starts it's a fucking nightmare here. You'll have one of two things. A guy too critical of the show who will argue his autistic point to the end even though it's a menial fuckup at best. Alternatively, you get the fucking naysayers from plebbit who refuse to admit that the directors can make any writing mistakes possible.

As soon as this show actually starts, all meaningful debate (related to the books or not) seems to dissolve into this weird argument style that's not really an argument and more people validating their shitty opinions.

Rather than cool theories, interesting thoughts about an adaptation, criticisms on what they could have done better, or discussions about why a character's motivations are good or bad, it just devolves into a couple dudes personally wanting to murder an actor/actress, and some guy who thinks that Cersei/Dany/Jon is a mastermind of strategy who can not possibly do any wrong.

Honestly the part I'm finding most interesting this year is reformation/destruction of the North. I really don't think they make it out of this alive and that is kind of a bummer for me. They've had to adjust to losing the Stark throne for a few years, only to have it return and have them prepare for the long night. I think the one thing people forget about placing that Umber girl back north, is that she's literally the frontline house on this war. Probability says her and her kin are absolutely fucked when the wall falls (and with how many times they referenced it, they obviously mean for it to fall).

I don't really care for Dany all that much, but I'm a bit biased because I feel she bandwagoned on as the most recognizable character who has some pretty thick plot armor (you can't really complain too much about this though, since the story is coming to a close and they really can't kill everyone off).

I think my biggest complaint is the directors completely ignoring what could be a cool downfall storyline for Cersei, by actually having her seem successful. They think that if they make her lose, people lose interest. Imagine, however, if we got to see her downfall piece by piece. The fall of the Starks that we had to endure in the first 3 seasons, but now in reverse for her. Additionally, I'm just a bit sad that Jamie is just going along for it. If they at least had some justification, or if he addressed it so I could understand. He's helping her after she did the same thing he lost his honor to prevent, and I think that's very shortsighted of them. I'm excited for some storylines, but I think they've really stumbled with the villains this season.

I think the main problem is that some people have this glimmer of hope about certain storylines that can still be saved, or can even be great if they follow a certain trajectory. The problem is that they never save them, nor do they correct their trajectory, they just follow it until it feels like you've watched a run-on sentence.

Why does Arya cutting off someone's face give her the power to turn into that person? The entirety of her S5 and 6 training failed to ever explain that. A couple months spent washing corpses and scrubbing floors at the House of Black&White? They never taught her ANYTHING, never trained her for ANYTHING. Well, fighting in the dark I guess. That's it.

Arya's stuff doesn't fit in the show's universe. Random people can't change their faces at will. Yes, some people can, but not all. If they could then Hotpie would've changed his face when he was scared to death in S2 and pretend to be one of Gregor's soldier. He didn't because he couldn't.

I assume Arya would've done it too, but couldn't.
