ATTENTION BAJORAN WORKERS. It has come to my attention that certain WORTHLESS TAILORS have been asking certain members of Starfleet medical staff about their SEXUAL ORGANS.

TO THE MEDICAL STAFF MEMBER IN QUESTION, as we both know I have sent you several subspace relays also asking you about your sexual organs. Besides two replies which threatened the future involvement of Constable Odo, and one reply which was a picture of a four headed orange sexual organ which Damar has informed me is in fact Ferengi and not human, I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED A RESPONSE.

YOU HAVE TWO HOURS TO COMPLY WITH INFORMATION REGARDING YOUR SEXUAL ORGANS OR ELSE YOU AND YOUR FELLOW MEMBERS OF STARFLEET WILL SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES. I expect to be hearing from you promptly.

Data is a foil for Spock. Data wants to be more human where as Spock tends to reject his human side and tires to be more logical and Vulcan. They literally have this exact convo in the Spock episode of TNG.

The reasons Betazoids exist is to act as a counter to Vulcans. Have a species surrounding the truth and explorations of emotions in contrast to the species that completely rejects the concept.

GUYS.
I'm starting a big project, and I need your weaponized autism for help. I want to make a supercut of all of Avery Brooks' crazy little noises he makes throughout DS9. Like that early episode where the coffee is too hot, and he goes AYEE!! Basically things like that. His little "Woo!"s, Jake-Os, etc.

If you know of any off the top of your head, please give me the episode number, and if you have it, preferably a timestamp as well.

Why was Moriarty able to trick Data into not realising he was still on a holodeck? I'd assume "don't create harmful forms of energy like real ultraviolet light from fake stars" would be one of the safety protocols and Data would note its absence. Or does Data see exactly like a real boy?

Bashir is an aryan superman.

Star Fleet doctors routinely use genetic engineering to correct genetic deficiencies. like Barclay's lack of immunity(which caused the crew of the enterprise to devolve).

those failed augments were still geniues, if autistic as hell. (ds9)

most major races have physical and or mental advantages over humans.

the dominion uses genetically engineered slave races. the vorta(uplifted tree people), and the Gem'Hadar.

so why is gene engineering illegal again in the Federation?

Voyager is worth watching. Its just as imperfect as any Star Trek.

Some of its big problems are that a lot of its characters are *really* inconsistent. Janeway's especially guilty of this. Her personality is literally every female in a position of power, from 'i am the mother of my men' to 'i am a hard ass to prove that i am worth command' and everything in between. And she'll refuse one immoral method of speeding up their return home one week, only to go all for it the next.

Hell, Neelix begins the show as a competent independent space captain who's a lot smarter than he appears, and quickly descends into being a complete fucking idiot. Half the time he can cook like a god, the other half the time everyone hates his cooking. Half the time he's beloved by all and genuinely entertaining, the other half he's annoying as shit.

It goes on and on like this.

That said. It still manages to have some really great moments and still feels like a proper Trek. You're more likely to get angry that it could have been so much better than it was than anything.

One of my favourite epsidoes is "Blink of an Eye" (based on an old scifi novel) which is about Voyager basically accidentally fucking over the prime directive about as hard as they possibly could. They get trapped over a planet that suffers from massive time dilation, so that the natives have been staring up at the 'Skyship' since time immemorial, driving their entire species development as they eventually develop rocketry just to try and reach it. Genuinely an awesome episode from start to finish, and a great example of Voyager at its best.

reminder Dukat did nothing wrong except when he accidentally got himself stuck on the station while the boobytraps were going off and when he tried to screw over a rival politician by separating that politician from his son, but then he accidentally left a trail of clues and Garak caught him, and maybe that one time he accidentally got that chick pregnant, and when his whole life was ruined when he forgot that the prophets were omnipotent beings inside the wormhole, and one time he tried to convince Sisko that he was perfectly sane, and went about this task by talking to imaginary tulpas, also the whole becoming Space Satan thing might have been ill advised

Oh shush.

Voyager may be the red-headed step child of Trek, hanging out in the garden shed with Enterprise because it isnt allowed in the house with the real children, but its still Trek.

All the Treks have had their problems. DS9 had its entire early fucking seasons. TNG had Wesley Crusher, and Troi's stupid out of place psi powers, shouting "I feel aggression from that person!" when the enemy ship opens fire.

Voyager may be the worst of the litter, but its still worth watching.

And Neelix wasn't *always* bad. He was, at the very least, an entertaining troll of the utopian humans of the future. Especially when he very clearly started to fuck with Tuvok for his own amusement.

You'd strangle him if you had to be in the room with him. But you'd happily lock him in a room with someone else and run off laughing.

The Borg are too stupid to live.

The only way they make any sense. Is if they are a flawed creation that doesn't know any better, because it has strayed out of its intended purpose.

Like if an alien race was dying or wanted to enhance them selves. So they made an AI cybernetic program. That turned them all into cyborgs.

I assume you mean the stuff like how they just ignore intruders or enemy ships they dont want to assimilate until they actively attack?

To be honest. I always fucking loved that stuff. Yes, it made the Borg look stupid in a way, but it also very clearly marked them as alien and 'too powerful to care'.

It fell down and stopped making sense when they gained a queen, or the implication they are able to think at all from an individual perspective.

Flawed creation or whatever isn't necessary for them to make sense, but just not knowing better certainly is. You can kind of understand the logic that something that doesnt think anything like normal creatures would act in the way it had. But the moment they can step back and look at themselves from a more human perspective is the moment you'd think they'd say 'Wow, we're real fucking stupid'.

>>85191933

Eh, I'd say personally DS9's early season or two of badness hit a lot harder than most Treks. But thats just opinion.

Be aware that the first couple seasons of Voyager are REALLY rough. There's a couple of really standout episodes, but for the most part they try a lot of different things to find the show's niche and very little of it works well. There is a really noticeable improvement in the writing and acting about halfway through season 3, and the show is at its peak from about mid-S3 to mid S-6

I'd say check out the episode ratings and skip anything below like... 6.5

>And Neelix wasn't *always* bad.
Voyager's writing was always at its best when the writing played *against* the traits and tropes of the characters... putting Harry in situations where he has to overcome his lack of experience, putting Tuvok into situations where he's emotionally compromised, putting Seven into situations where she needs to embrace her humanity, etc.

Neelix was no exception - his best stories were always the ones that took him out of his comic relief role and put him against some serious shit. Episodes like Jetrel or Mortal Coil where Ethan Phillips really gets to expand on the character aren't just great Neelix episodes or even great Voyager episodes... they're just plain great Star Trek episodes.

Are you retarded? It's a writing device used to reference the idea of what the thing is. If it was just some random alien name without a frame of reference, it wouldn't give the viewer an image. It would just be an empty collection of strange syllables. Fuck, you guys know nothing about writing.

>Voyager's writing was always at its best when the writing played *against* the traits and tropes of the characters

Exactly. The problem was it was often really good at setting up situations like this (one nice touch i liked was that their tactical officer was a Vulcan, a species who almost religiously drill themselves against violence) and then doing fuck all with them.

Hell, the entire ship was meant to be this. With the utopian Federation members and the grittier Maquis forced to co-exist. But for the most part everything was business as normal, and someone who came into the thing halfway through its seasons would have no fuckign idea which crewmember was meant to be what.

The lack of meaningful continuity and acknowledgement of the difficult reality of the crew's situation was the biggest problem with the show.

Voyager should have been what Battlestar Galactica eventually was - a grittier show where the crew has to face genuine hardship and compromise their ideals to survive, and where they don't get to hit the reset button every week.

Not going through with the Year of Hell arc was a mistake.

Just watch every episode and fast forward whenever he isn't on screen. He makes little noises every time, and you should also include whenever he talks super quietly (like when the unjoined Trill tries to steal Dax in season 2).

> The lack of meaningful continuity and acknowledgement of the difficult reality of the crew's situation was the biggest problem with the show.

Pretty much exactly this. The entire concept of Voyager was 'alone and out of contact with only a skeleton crew' and it totally failed. Enterprise did a way better job of being Voyager than Voyager ever did, what with being constantly outgunned, inexperienced, and having to do things like go down planetside and trade condoments to aliens for parts while pretending nutmeg or whatever is something valuable.

Voyager never even made it exactly clear how well the replicators were working. We just know they had some sort of vague ration system going on that never seemed to bother anyone.

I mean, not that I'm a big fan of SJW pandering in modern media (more because it tends to be so fucking ham-handed than any irrational hatred of gays or anything) but Star Trek's set in a socialist utopia where any prejudice at all has long since died.

It had the first interracial kiss on TV for fucks sake (which is what people like you were complaining about a few decades ago, and in a few more decades itll be complaining about representing cyborg characters in media or some shit).

There would absolutely be gay or trans captains. And no one would give any shit, because - as they'd put it - humanity has grown beyond such barbarity.

Wouldnt be any Burwas of course though. Atheist super future for the win.

It's gonna be SJW as fuck. They'll pluck story ideas from every far left rag the writers can get their hands on.

Fifty bucks say there'll be an episode in the first season where a "Security Officer" shoots a minority/alien crew member in a thinly veiled 'police shooting minorities' story. Hundred bucks says there'll be a space-Trump character.
