Why is this movie so underappreciated?
>>85137658
Most probably haven't even seen it. Especially here where autists form opinions over shit they've never watched.
>>85137658
I don't think people get it, 2bh. I realise that sentence is now a meme, but it's true.
I showed this movie to my parents cause I thought they'd find it as funny as I did, but my mom only laughed once at the end.
It's a great comedy
>>85139817
That's too bad
>>85137658
>the scene where Clooney opens his closet and to his shock finds Brad hiding there trying to save his own ass by putting on a fake smile, then gets shot immediately in the face
fucking had me out of breath laughing, the girl i was watching it with got shocked to the point where she was almost offended
baka what a boring cunt
>>85139817
Was it ankward during the dildo chair scene ?
>>85140409
yeah I completely forgot about that subplot
It's a lump of shit. Like most of the Coen's dumps.
HE THINKS THATS A SCHWINN
It's not. It's great.
>>85140566
it was just lying there
>>85140132
That bit early fucking killed me in the theater. That and the ending
>>85140653
Bing, what are you doin' here?
I thought I told you to go fuck your mother.
>>85137658I'm back, motherfuckers, I'm back
It wasnt that funny desu
>>85137658
because it's not as smart as it wants to be
I find when the coen brothers do straight comedy it tends to be too broad/exaggerated. even raising arizona I don't really find funny
>>85137658
Because it is terribly unfunny and tries too hard
It's the Coen's funniest since Big Lebowski. Pitt and Clooney are especially hilarious.
Underrated cameo from Dermot Mulroney, as the male lead in the fake romcom they go and see at the movies.

>What did we learn, Palmer?
i like it. it's pretty funny and the ending had me laughing hysterically.
I think it was kind of underwhelming to a lot of people upon release who had maybe just gotten exposed to the Coens through NCFOM like a year or two prior and likely didn't even know they dabbled in weird black comedies like this.
Personally I love it but I also don't think it's exactly laugh out loud hilarious. As a kind of played straight spy satire it works almost perfectly though. The music cues especially.
>>85142167
Almost as good as Bruce Campbell as a plastic surgeon on a soap opera in Intolerable Cruelty.
Don't blow a gasket, Osbourne
>>85142476
>I also don't think it's exactly laugh out loud hilarious.
Every time JK Simmons was on screen my sides went missing.
>>85139961
This is the scene where it really becomes a full comedy
>>85139961
The Coens are amazingly good with stupid characters, but my god is Chad (his name is even Chad!) the dumbest of all of them. Ulysses S. Everett McGill is the only character of theirs that comes even close.
>>85141028
the way he smiles is fucking priceless
MEM-WAH
>>85137658
easily the most underrated film of the century, such an amazing ode to human stupidity, god-tier cast
>>85137658
It's just a bit too good
>>85142056
Pleb
>>85142127
>because it's not as smart as it wants to be
Thats because its a movie about idiots who aren't as smart as they think they are getting in way over their head.
>>85140132
>>85137658
It's too mean spirited for plebs
>>85142284
I uh...I don't know, sir.
If by "underappreciated," you mean "one of the most overrated movies ever," then I agree.
>>85144351
How is it overrated exactly?
>>85144238
I don't fucking know either.
Don't do it again... Whatever IT was.
>>85140681
>>85144184
Probably this. Even It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, which usually gets praised for focusing on shitty people, gets a lot of its humor from its comedic overexaggerations and how its characters seem pointless. The characters in Burn After Reading are terrible people who deliberately do selfish things and it's not played up in the fun ways people are used to seeing in black comedy. It seems like most people just don't know how to react to the tone.
>>85145129
You're laughing AT these characters. All of them are way too self absorbed to know how much of a joke they are. Which is, of course, a recipe for mean humor. So it's not like it's detractors are wrong, they're just...I dunno.
>>85140812
On the floor there
>>85144179
My favorite moment of the film and the best facial expression produced by Brad Pitt. It is masterful. Brad really deserved the oscar for that one.
>>85146249
Yeah, he plays a great goofball. He should do more comedy. Cruise too.
I've heard many times this is the worst the Coens have done, but its one of their best in my book along with Blood Simple, Fargo, and The Big Lebowski
>>85137658
Because it is one of the Coen brothers' worst movies.
>>85139186
pretty much this, american in generally is pretty shit at subtle humor. a lot of things have to be loud and in your face
John Malkovich was the real star of the show for me
The Coen brothers are literal hacks.
>>85146431
Fuck you, Peck! You're a Mormon! Next to you, we all have a drinking problem!
What kind of cheese is this?
>>85146428
In what way is it subtle?
>>85140132
I was watching it in the theater with a bunch of teen girls that would giggle and start talking shit every time Brad Pitt showed up. That scene was fucking priceless.
