What loose ends? The only real loose end I can think of besides the doppelganger thing was Audrey in the bank and we've known since Frost's book that she survived.

The last two episodes have been filled with plot progression. It's really obvious that Lynch was taking his time with slowly introducing all the elements and now they're all coming together. Briggs is connected to Shaggy's dimension hopping shit and knows how to fix Cooper or stop the doppelganger which he gave clues posthumously to the police, the mafia is closing in on DougieCoop, the FBI is onto the doppelganger who's trying to find the coordinates to a government facility, etc. There's plenty going on.

So what loose ends? What exactly do you want? Because with all this bitching it sure fucking sounds like you wanted another comfy tier soap opera.

The main conflict of the season, i.e. Good Cooper vs Evil Cooper, is exactly what the previous season's cliffhanger set up. It just so happens that this conflict spans the entire season, instead of being solved around episode 14 and then having 6 episodes of meandering before finding a new plotline, which is exactly what everyone complained about in regards to the old show.
The only parts that are not directly tied to twin peaks are the new casts of characters that revolve around good cooper and evil cooper, i.e. the las vegas people, evil coop's associates and the buckhorn police. Evil Cooper is currently trying to get Briggs' coordinates from Ray which will eventually bring him to Twin Peaks; while the twin peaks police force, who is searching for the missing good cooper, and the FBI, who is going after evil cooper, are slowly starting to figure out that there exist two different coopers at the same time, and both of them are also converging to the same place on twin peaks since both of them also have the Briggs coordinates now.
The only plotline that is currently not going thowards twin peaks is Dougie's, and I can understand frustration with that plotline, but saying that this show has nothing to do with the previous one's cliffhanger is just retarded. They are even setting up new drama in twin peaks (drug problems among the new generation, Richard being Richard, everyone seems to be divorced or just generally alone and miserable) similar to how the original show's played out that will no doubt be explored further once all the main players reach Twin Peaks (Richard was part of the clues left by the Giant in episode 1 so it definetly won't turn out to be useless)
The only thing I don't see getting any resolution at this point, outside of the obvious one-off cameos (like Mike), is the chip ain't got no phone scene, though it may turn out to be connected to Balthazar's traffic at some point maybe

Did you expect Evil Coop to hang around twin peaks for 25 years? It would make absolutely no sensr for his character.
Did you expect Good Coop to immediately reappear in twin peaks? That would kill any sort of drama concerning his return.
It makes complete sense that their two stories start off in different places, and then converge to twin peaks around 2/3rds in.
The one thing I agree with is that Dougie's storyline is repetitive; while DoppelCoop had to overcome different obstacles in his quest to reach twin peaks (getting Ray to get the coordinates from Hasting's secretary, getting double-crossed by Jeffries, having to escape from prison, losing Bob and now having to chase Ray to get the coordinates back), Dougie's is all about him escaping from assassination attempts while slowly regaining his memory, and while I don't mind his character it would be nice to see him in a different setting instead of doing the same things over and over. I'm assuming his storyline will eventually culminate with him and his boss taking down the insurance scammer guy who is also working for Doppelcoop and regaining his identity by taking down a criminal, but still, now he has to dodge an assassination attempt from the mafia AGAIN and that'd gonna be at least 3 episodes

From their perspective, it's 100% about money. Supposedly, even though the ratings aren't great, it's caused their biggest spike in subscriptions. If they think it makes financial sense to do another season, they will want to. Frost and Kyle said they'd be down. I also don't believe the killer reveal being forced was as sudden as they would make us believe, season 2 was already setting up new subplots that would obviously fall outside of the killer chase in episode 1 (windom earle) and the pacing that leads to the reveal is pretty good and doesen't feel forced at all, they basically exhausted all possibilities outside of an unknown third man by that point in the show.
If they just made two 8 episodes seasons they could have wrapped up the killer investigation and the drug trafficking subplot, stopped there and have enough time to think up an actual third season revolving around windom earle and BOB instead of leaving the show and just doing whatever
