I guess I didn't grow up watching it or something so it doesn't provide any comfy nostalgia for me. But in saying that I finished home movies a few months ago and I found it hilarious

It's not funny, it never really lands any jokes. It does occasionally have some good episodes though. If you're still enjoying it then press on but do note it's never going to make you actually laugh. Very few shows ever do when restricted by pg-13 ratings.

If you want a CN/[as] cartoon that will actually make you laugh as a opposed to "huh i get the joke" try ATHF or Xavier: Renegade Angel
