Tom lives unhappily with his single mom (Melisa McCarthy) whom he perceives to be boring and uncaring. Tom longs for adventure until one night a strange and beautiful woman (Rooney Mara) claims to be his real mother and takes Tom to an exotic fantasy world. At first Tom believes it but eventually he realizes it's not real and wakes up from the fantasy to show more care and love to his mom.
