When does TNG get good?
>>
>>85091751
Around the time when the Borg arrive, gets consistently good after Wesley leaves.
>>

After Tasha dies
>>
>>85091843
Wesley is my favorite character so far though
>>
>>85091975
Then it's already good and will only get worse as you finish TNG and start DS9, which won't get good until season 7, then Voyager will be amazing throughout, and Enterprise will start good but get slightly worse in season 4. And all the TOS movies suck, but all the TNG movies except First Contact are 10/10.

Seriously though, terrible bait.

The Traveler was Elvis. He never died, he traveled to the future to become Wesley's father, Jack. Jack also never died, he traveled to the future to reap the fruits of his labor: an incestuous relationship with his son, Wesley.

9 years later Wesley returns to the Enterprise, having been split into two beings by the trauma incurred by his "adventures" with the Traveler. One went on to serve as a Lieutenant on the Enterprise, the other became Shinzon and sought revenge on Picard for failing to protect his younger self from an obvious alien pedophile.

Star Trek's casts have been blessed with longevity (knock wood). TOS didn't lose a major cast member for over 30 years and still has four of its main players after over 50.

The diversity isn't the issue. Its all the press about "look at how diverse we are."

Previous series took for granted that the future would be diverse and felt no need to point it out or harp on it. Something I always find incredibly humorous when this topic comes up is Mayweather from ENT. He was an outsider and different from the rest of the crew. But not because of his skin color but because of his childhood/upbringing (spaceboomer).

What Star Trek needs is a complete remake, BSG style. Keep some basic designs the same but don't be afraid to change everything. Discovery trying to stay within the same continuity is just stupid and will cause autists (i.e. 90% of the Trek fanbase) to get angry when it inevitably contradicts the fuck out of previous material.

JJ throwing out Star Trek continuity to start fresh was absolutely a good idea. That problem was his writers were fucking Orci, Kurtzman and and Lindelof so the new shit was completely retarded, and on top of that instead of being fresh they dug up Khan to do again.

Also stylizing the Enterprise bridge as an Apple Store was pretty dumb.

no what star trek need is to do what TNG, DS9 and VOY did advance the universe of star trek further and bringing new stuff along with the old I mean I'm curious to know how the Borg, Cardassia and the dominion are doing at the end of DS9. But those questions will never be answered because they absolutely wanted to make a serie out of JJtrek while taking a dump on what was previously established by the rest of the franchise.

and specially in ToS, shit's often just "Space magic" and you have aliens not only sporting mind reading and telekinesis powers, they also often create something out of nothing or are otherwise literal gods,

But then there are more "Hard" sci-fi oriented episodes, where instead of magic, there is a gas emitted on the ground that attacks the brain and keeps the population relatively primitive while the people (literally) in higher places stay out of it and thus become smarter, feeling superior.

>>85104843

>>85104884
It's mostly bad with technobabbel and "because it is". The good old unironic "This is somehow overloading and if we don't do something in EXACTLY 5 minutes it's gonna blow!" but often sprinkled with some blablaconverter to hold the soandso artimakumulators.

Neither Trek nor B5 is hard sci-fi, they may have some elements of it in some parts, but hard sci-fi has a hard line, that's the point. I don't know of any hard sci-fi in recent years other than Person of Interest, and even that took some liberties with the state of software and hardware capabilities, as far as I know, anyway.

Why did you rank Final Frontier so high? That's the only one I majorly disagree with.

I don't know where you came from but this kind of bait doesn't work in /trek/ threads.

I like all the humor between the cast. It has some stupid shit like the jet-boots and some hamfisted metaphors like El Capitan/the ships wheel but people gave it a lot of flak for being a Shatner wankfest when I found it to be very memorable.

"Why does god need a starship?" is a great scene.

You fucking idiot. There's restroom windows all over the ship. You stick your ass out the window and relieve yourself and let it float outinto space. It's like shitting in the ocean

That must be a great way to shit.

I like all that stuff too, I just felt really disappointed after the great atmosphere the opening set up that we got 60 year old chick does a fan dance then they're looking for [plinky plonky music] eden, charcuterie, vorta 4. The reveal that it wasn't really god was a saving grace, but it didn't feel like a plot twist to me as much as a "well, good.". The ending with the warbird and back to camping on Earth was fun though.

>But Enterprise was literally the gayest Trek show.

No Trek series will ever be gayer than TOS. The eye shadow worn by the crew alone guarantees that. And there's always the backrub scene:

This episode is really underrated, mythological/supernatural elements showing up and turning out to be aliens is the most classic of trek story structures, and they picked some great elements for the episode, and the ambiguous ending was a nice touch.

8/10 at least. Fuck the haters.

The Defiant is designed to fight the Borg in groups of 50 or so. Its main selling point is that it's easy to manufacture more Defiants. For the same time and resources that are used to construct one Galaxy-class vessel, you could build three or four Defiant-class vessels in its place.

As to why the shipyards never pumped out hundreds of them, you should take up that grievance with the Federation Council.

>Luke, did I ever tell you about the time Ensign Harry Kim was sucked out into the void of space through a hull breach? It's likely he spent about a long 20 seconds drifting through dead space, experiencing abject terror as he realized he had truly met his end. Luckily a duplicate came on board so there was no need to mourn his passing. He was a good friend.

7 of 9 had the emotional and social maturity of a child. Just like a child, she is not capable of giving informed consent.

For proof, look at the two losers that she chose to copulate with. No person capable of giving informed consent would ever consent to copulate with them.
