This is show has really gone of the deep end ever since George's departure and D&D's acquisition of complete creative control. Dragonstone is actually not that big a castle. Harrenhal, Casterly Rock, the Red Keep, Winterfell, and Storm's End are bigger. Probably Highgarden as well.

One of the reasons Stannis was always buttmad at Robert is because Robert gave Storm's End to Renly and sent Stannis to the shitty little backwater that was Dragonstone.

It's an island far off from civilization mate, Stannis presumably took most of the supplies when he left and this isn't the actual seat of power of the Baratheons so there isn't really anything valuable except a giant ass table.

Going through the trouble of getting a boat and actually surviving the journey to Dragonstone is more than any lowlife would care to do so, better to just stick with stealing shit in King's Landing or whatever town you're in.
