Even so, there are quite a few characters on Game of Thrones (yes, children watch game of thrones, read any youtube comment chain about the show and this will become very clear) who boys have. Jon Snow in particular, but also Bran, Davos, and to an extent even Jaime Lannister.
Also, there are quite a few shows, in fact an absolute shit ton of shows, that have straight white male leads but nobody talks about them.
In the case of cartoons though without a doubt the most popular one for kids out right now is Teen Titans Go and say what you will about that show but there are plenty of male chafacters to latch onto. Ghostbusters is a good example of a reboot gone to shit but it would be insanity to claim young boys dont have anything to look up to in movies anymore.
The entirety of the MCU's films so far (the literal most succesful franchise ever) are male led and if your concern is about white boys in particular only one will be led by a black male.

I do think it's a shame that I can't name a single tv show, movie, or recent book that had a boy as a main character who wasn't a piece of shit. Harry Potter is pretty close I guess but that ship has sailed. Of course, you could argue that one's role models ideally should be people in your life, e.g. father, teacher, coach, but certainly it would be better if you weren't continually exposed to media implying or outright stating that "boys suck" or are bullies, etc.

Having said that, the bigger issue is our society's treatment of boys in general. I'm an elementary school teacher, and I can tell you boys definitely get the shaft (no pun intended) in the education system. Even I, as a male, find myself drawn into the paradigm of punishing boys for doing things that are developmentally/culturally appropriate while rewarding girls for doing things that are developmentally/culturally appropriate. Some teachers are openly disdainful of male students. The statistics show that boys are heavily unfavored in terms of discipline. In Madoka we see the true MC has been portrayed as the weird or sort of bad girl only to show that she's been using her real powers of time to try to change the course that leads to the death of the little pink-haired girl. In Dr. strange, they're kind of in and outside of time, and the result can be changed, which it ultimately is once that antagonist realizes that by not giving in to Strange, he's trapped himself with someone he hates. The course is takes a new direction. What's done is not done, even if it seemed done before.

Not having positive young male characters is a SYMPTOM of a problem, not necessarily the problem itself. Our society devalues males in general, but especially boys, because they're seen neither as things to be protected (all females) nor things that are productive (adult males). They have no role in society.

If people gave a shit about boys there'd be a lot more media featuring boys. So the issue is not really that "We need more young male role models so boys have something to emulate". It's more like, "Society shits on boys and this is just one of many examples".
