I used to have one of those.

I have one (DX7iiD). Got it for $150 from its original owner off Craigslist. I put it back up for $350 and have a few people wanting to buy it. I'm torn whether I should keep it or not. I like it but it's enormous and my apt is small.

The best is just a whatever basic midi controller and a computer filled with every plugin/sample possible.
As for actual hardware, I love the Moog Sub37.
