I loved season 1, but the rest was just terrible and then there was boring bullshit for several seasons then the freakshow circus thing, then they cancelled it.

Now that I think about his character, from season 2 onwards they literally distract Peter with random shit so he can't do anything, then by the time he finally can he gets his powers taken anyway.

as soon as peter got claire and hiro's abilities he could have stopped time and taken a million years to assess the situation. consumed all the current knowledge on earth (which would have been easy if he mapped earth to sectors corresponding to the range of his power absorption ability then warped to every single one in sequence - he would get at least one charlie ability eventually). then he could have really started changing shit, and i'm just talking about on earth. in the blink of an eye peter could have created a universe-wide utopia. he probably could have even forecast and prevented his own nerfing had he bothered to just use the three crucial abilities he had instead of fumbling around in realtime like a total asshole.

Heroes become what it wanted to avoid: being a superhero comic. The writers even avoided their characters, barring Hiro himself, calling themselves superheroes, their abilities super powers, or wearing costumes.

But with all the time travel nonsense, established characters never truly dying, melodrama, conspiracies, plot twists and just comic book cliches, Heroes just become a Marvel/DC comic that was too afraid of being called a superhero story.
