/who/ did it once. Now, we're gonna do it again! Yet another entry in an age-old tradition of p̶a̶c̶k̶a̶g̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶f̶a̶n̶f̶i̶c̶s̶ ̶t̶o̶g̶e̶t̶h̶e̶r̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶g̶i̶v̶e̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶m̶ ̶a̶n̶ ̶a̶i̶r̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶l̶e̶g̶i̶t̶i̶m̶a̶c̶y̶ / celebrating the magic of Who and the talent of a community.

There are no limits (except the story must be at least 1 word long, and preferably not in excess of 10,000, it's short fiction you fuck).

I want a female Doctor and I'm nervous as well. Honestly I think the show is one that thrives on change and casting Marshall would be a mistake for that reason- they need something new and fresh. It's just unfortunate that the whole 'white male' doctor is starting to get stale for a lot of people at the same time people are getting highly politically polarised.

It means the female Doctor could be written badly and turn a lot of people off, me included. But I'm hopeful Chibbs will do well if it's Jodie since they've worked together before and she did some great work with him. Marshall is the safe choice but it isn't the one that is going to drum up new interest in the show and keep it fresh.

The Doctor as a character is old, even when Smith (a young hot guy) played him he was portrayed as a wise old man in a young body. Pretty much this. Maybe I'm different but I seriously think the first three Doctors were the best the show has been. Troughton wasn't strictly grandfatherly but he had his moments.
I think it's weird they are pushing gender fluid as the pinnacle of advanced civilization. I'm perfectly fine with people that want to be a different gender, but I'm not a horrible person if I don't want a sex change myself. They keep saying gender is identity, it's really important to who you are as an individual, so wanting to stay the same gender isn't all that absurd. I just keep thinking about all the other Time Lords, what happens if Susan regenerates into a man, is she Steve? Or Romana becoming Ramone? What about people in families, what if one guy gets injured at work and comes home to his wife as a woman. What if his wife wasn't bisexual? Forcing gender fluidity into a civilization isn't that great of an idea. You can be okay with something without being a part of it.

I'd be okay with a female Doctor, I'd want her to be an older woman that gives off that grandmother vibe, but it kind of makes sense since the Doctor is one of the Time Lords that doesn't know how to control his regeneration. But I stand by my point of making it a normal part of Time Lord physiology.

No, people still love Doctor Who, they just need something good to keep them interested.
It's not about something fresh or reviving the show, at least not especifically, it will always be about quality, and I don't mean necessarily good stories. The public just doesn't want anything bland.
Capaldi was new and fresh, the first really older Doctor in NuWho, he was crankier and desperately different than Matt Smith who was basically Tennant but with some changes. And his era is the one that almost killed the show, because they failed to get public interest all the way back in series 8. Because series 8 started with an absolute downer of an episode with a opening that no one really likes. For a lot of people it felt like a downgrade.

If it's Kris or Jodie, it just needs to be exciting and adventurous. Honestly, from the bottom-of-the-well that the show finds itself now, there's nowhere to go but upward.
