Masters if Earth is pretty good, but it does require a bit of legwork imo.

It's a sequel to The Dalek Invasion of Earth (as long as you're semi familiar with what happens, you're fine). You should also probably listen to Peri and the Piscon Paradox and The Widow's Assassin before hand, as they explain why Peri is with the Doctor post-trial. Piscon Peridox is GOAT MUST LISTEN on its own and Assassin is pretty good too so it shouldn't be too much of a slog.

Honestly, I know Kris Marshall has every chance of being great, but I think casting him would be a major mistake. It's not even that it's another white guy. Or that he's bland looking.

I think, even for a white guy, Kris Marshall is such an obvious safe, boring choice. The performance could end up being great, sure, but...Ultimately I see him being another Paul McGann (who I really like so shut the fuck up before you get pissed), where he just ends up being remembered as "Yup. That was the 13th Doctor alright. No doubt about it."

They've gotta have something more memorable and different. Even if it's another white guy, I don't care. I really don't. Just take a risk and do something different like they did with Capaldi.
