why does anyone want another video game movie

especially half life. the lack of the protagonist's part of the dialogue is part of what makes it great - you insert yourself as the character and develop your own reactions to what the npcs are doing. even though it's linear, you've got your mission: "kill the invading alien scum", and it's compelling due to the rewards the game gives you, whether it's npc adulation, satisfying new gameplay options, or thrill of victory.

giving gordon a voice would be off-putting to anyone who's played the game.
