>/who/ presents:
DOCTOR WHO: SHIT TRIPS Vol. 2
- The Anthology -

>Are you a true fan of Doctor Who?
>Have you ever written down a sequence of words?

If the answer is yes or no, then you are ready to contribute a literary masterpiece to the second /who/ collection of original Doctor Who-based short fiction.

/who/ did it once. Now, we're gonna do it again! Yet another entry in an age-old tradition of p̶a̶c̶k̶a̶g̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶f̶a̶n̶f̶i̶c̶s̶ ̶t̶o̶g̶e̶t̶h̶e̶r̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶g̶i̶v̶e̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶m̶ ̶a̶n̶ ̶a̶i̶r̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶l̶e̶g̶i̶t̶i̶m̶a̶c̶y̶ / celebrating the magic of Who and the talent of a community.

There are no limits (except the story must be at least 1 word long, and preferably not in excess of 10,000, it's short fiction you fuck).

>- Can involve any Doctor(s), companion(s), side characters, spinoff characters and beyond, as your heart desires
>- Can be in any style, whether it's "legitimate writing", "pisstake", or "shitpost".
>- Can be about absolutely anything
>- The main focus is on good fun in the vein of the wiki, although serious entries are allowed. (If you're going to write smut, maybe approach it with a degree of levity)

Stuck for ideas? Try starting with your favourite TARDIS team (or for timeliness, 12/Bill “I'm a lesbian” Potts) and one of these authentic titles:
http://www.saberpunk.net/DoctorWho/DoctorWhoSerialGenerator.php
https://glyphobet.net/drwho
And free scenario prompts:
http://games.usvsth3m.com/drwho/

We are going to be starting an index on the wiki for the collection. Anyone can contribute, no signups/pitches required. If you have ideas, feel free to broadcast them.
The rest is self-explanatory. Format for uploading your work is up to you, as long as it can be conveniently copied across (and ideally don't spam long texts in /who/ directly). (Pastebin works well.)

BONUS: Anyone who wants to do cover art or "illustrations" is encouraged.

When do you think the plot will get to "I bribed the architect" tier?
>>
>>84926042
Twelve going fucking mental in Hell Bent is him being driven to the very edge of his character and making some serious mistakes and errors of judgement. It's not out of character, but it is extreme; The Doctor has become obsessed with not letting his companions, particularly Clara, die, after what happened with Amy and Rory, and how much he cared for her and how much they depended on each other. I don't think he had ever really depended on anyone as much before. Rose isn't canon

Watching Hell Bent, I was thinking "fuck sake Doctor, calm down, you don't need to do this", but I never thought "this is out of character and he wouldn't logically do this."

I still think your enjoyment of Hell Bent is at the mercy of whether or not you like Clara. What happened in the episode was much more interesting than anything they could have done with Galllifrey, for me - he already outed Rassilon and took up the presidency and shouted at them all; what next?

They either need to do a Telltale game, or a Lego game and it would work perfectly.

Imagine a Doctor Who game where you start out as Capaldi (or whoever the current Doctor is when it comes out), and there's no lives but every time you die you regenerate into a new, randomly generated character
>>
>>84930011
Only if its a telltale style one
>>
>>84930104
that sounds pretty wank in all honesty, why would i want to play as some random fucko, plus they'd have to generate a new personality each time
>>
>>84930170
Yeah that's one of those ideas that really works on paper but while playing it I'd be pissed that I couldn't play as a real doctor. I like what lego dimensions did
>>
>>84930011
I suppose a battlefront style game could work.
>>
>>84930104
So far we have Lego Dimensions.
With Doctor Who properties in the game, it opens the door to a possible future Lego Doctor Who game.
>>
The LEGO games turned to shit as soon as they started speaking actual dialogue

>>
>>84928796
>still think your enjoyment of Hell Bent is at the mercy of whether or not you like Clara
I fucking loathe Clara and I still think is one of the best Nuwho episodes
>>
>>84930170
A telltale game would have to have a doctor we've already seen and a new companion would work well.

I dont know if playing as the companion or the doctor would be better, probably the companion as they would be the sort of self. Thats how it was done in tales from the borderlands which worked really well.

The game would also need to have some old recurring characters, im thinking like; river strax and jack typer characters.
>>
When is RTD coming back? ;_;
>>
Why did they stop with the blue peter competitions? Don't primary school kids want to write for an old man doctor?
>>
>>84930206
>>84930170

I loved Hell Bent, although it's not the kind of episode you can just channel surf and land on, so I'm curious how it will stand up upon rewatch. I watch everything in chronological order anyway so it doesn't matter to me.
>>
>>84930280
Huh, I didn't even know that was possible.
>>
People call out how Bill fell in Love with Heather despite only meeting her like three times but desu I fell in love with her after watching her for 5 minutes so
>>
The ony way to watch Doctor Who is with every episode playing at the same time, and all even numbered ones are played in reverse.
>>
>>84930668
thats because you have a piss fetish
>>
>>84930534
For me the biggest flaw of hell bent is that it is wall to wall doctors past teases. Moffat loves this shit but is to much of a pussy to ever really reveal anything.
>>
>>84930668
you didn't fall in love, you fell in lust
>>
>>84930789
Or kill any one offfor real
>>
>>84930789
what teasing? It clearly showed that the doctor grew up in some kind of orphanage thing
>>
>>84930789
So you want Moffat to go even further with his lore plundering? The consensus seems to be people want him to stay away from stuff like that. I love every second of it, but I think if he goes too far with it he could ruin the mystery of it all in much the same way as I think Cartmell might have in the 80s.

One of the great things about the Hybrid arc is we still don't really know what it is or if it exists. It's just a prophecy and The Doctor Lies.

>>84932687
I would definitely encourage you to give it another go someday. As I said, piecemeal, the 18's not the best. Meglos is super meh and The Leisure Hive and (especially) Warriors Gate are admittedly not everyone's cup of tea. Holistically though, it's incredible. It seriously makes me wish Bidmead had at least stayed on for Season 19 to see if he'd continued with that kind of arc storytelling.

Lidster, Fountain, Parkin and Guerrier are all god tier.
Jonathan Morris, Eddie Robson and John Dorney are good too.

Platt is actually not that great lately. Planet of the Rani and his Doom Coalition stories were meh.
Fitton actually wrote some good stuff in a few occasions, like Equilibrium, The Neverwhen and his Rocket Men story.

Just been reading the twitter stuff. This selfish idiot was told on Jul 8th that Capaldi's last day of filming was Jul 10th, but only told a select few of his 'favoureds'.

Dozens of other fans had planned to meet up outside Roath Lock on Jul 11th (because Moff had originally said that was last day of filming), in the hope of meeting Capaldi on his last day. These included parents with children who hoped to meet their 'hero', and had booked time off work in advance/ bought train tickets and/or made other travel arrangements.

Soo....instead of dozens outside, incl families with kids, hoping to meet him and give him a good send off, Capaldi only had some of the staff from the DWE and a motley crew of about 4 mega-stalkers waiting outside. Which is a shame.

Every 5 or so years, the show gets a semi-reboot so new viewers can start watching without any prior knowledge needed other than 'he's an alien time traveller who travels in a time/space machine disguised a blue police box'.

Series 5 is one of the points for new viewers to begin. Also, series 10 is a fairly easy point to start watching too if you're new.

Fendahleen I could see happening
Cheetah People I don't want to comment on because that's furry territory

Thrails are just hairy guys. Eh.
I can't seem them not fucking up The Daemons
As soon as the Silurians got more tech savvy, the Terileptals got redundant.
I don't see The Tractators working well in the modern era

There's just something about The Voord that's clamouring for a comeback

I agree about 42 and it's genuinely tense and great.
But Dinosaurs is flawed. Too many characters, most of them are underwritten (wasted Bradley, thanks god he gets a great role after all), bland Nefertiti and hunter guy. Smith is given over-campy lines in this episode. It couldve been fun kino but its just above average at best.

>But Dinosaurs is flawed. Too many characters, most of them are underwritten (wasted Bradley, thanks god he gets a great role after all), bland Nefertiti and hunter guy. Smith is given over-campy lines in this episode

Maybe it was my problem with saying it was excellent, I agree but I still find the campyness super fun. Nefertiti and based Rupert Graves are extremely simple characters with 0 complexity but that's not really the point, the episode doesn't want to be anything other than a fun romp and it achieves that.
The only problem is Bradley's villain that just needed some more work.
>>
>>84944662
>it just fits his character more

How come? He's not even a true pacifist. He dislikes the military but he's willing to kill when necessary. Eating some chicken isn't exactly out-of-character for any Doctor.

Now, sexualizing him instead of making Two onwards asexual, that was a mistake.
>>
First 30 minutes of Power of Three is pure funkino though. Doctor Who sitcom at its best.
Ending is probably the single worst ending of all times. Not really a Chibs fault tho, more of production fuckups.
>>
>>84945015
>Not really a Chibs fault tho, more of production fuckups.
Why? The prosthetics were shit, but the main problem is that the script literally tries to introduce and then resolve the main plot of the episode in a matter of a couple of minutes, and it's done fucking awfully. I would say almost all of the blame lies with Chibnall.

Yes! That was a terrible episode to leave it on, as the 2 episodes after it were very good (Heaven Sent being considered the absolute best NuWho episode)

Hell Bent after it is not as good, and the plot is sidelined to focus on Clara, which is a shame, but it has amazing visuals and set design.

Series 10 is pretty good - there are a couple boring episodes near the beginning and the Monk trilogy has an unsatisfying conclusion, but the end of Series 10 is very good - the last 11th episode is almost on par with Heaven Sent and the 12th is not as good, but is still pretty great.

Plus you're missing out on Nardole who starts out annoying but is by far one of the best companions

>Really fucking blue.
Series 10 has that issue in places too (particularly the finale), but it also has a lot of really colorful episodes too.

If you haven't been spoiled, try to avoid the trailers for series 10, since there are some big surprises that the BBC publicity team for some reason decided to spoil the major twists in official trailers for the series.
The two trailers I'd advise ignoring are the Coming Soon trailer at the end of the first episode of Series 10, "The Pilot," and the next time trailer at the end of Episode 10 of Series 10.
>>

>>
>>84946029
>But it begs the question why the fuck they revealed it, would've been a nice surprise.
To try and get people to tune in to see him. Simm himself said he was disappointed it got revealed early, and Moffat was telling people not to watch trailers for the series.
>>

Is there any logic behind this theory?

The mention of Marinus. The Worldshapers mention that the Cybermen will eventually become an utopian version of themselves, after years of evolution.

The Two Doctors is funny and well-written, not Holmes' best but still a nice romp.

But

>Your just desserts
Fuck off

>From now on it's a vegetarian diet for the both of us
Fuck off

7/10

There also wasn't really much Two Doctoring, they were hardly together at all, and they hated each other. Meh.

The Sontarans looked like shite too, their neck things are loose and unconnected and their armour is just leather while their masks don't fit properly or move at all

My mother in law started watching the show for 1st time for s10. (She had never watched the show before because her late husband who she'd been married to for 50+ yrs hated sci fi stuff). She followed it pretty well.

But.....her favourite episodes of the whole series were Thin Ice ("I liked it when the river snake got saved, poor thing"), The Lie of the Land ("aw that's so sweet that she loves her Mum so much, such a lovely girl") and The Eaters of Light ("that Doctor is such a nice man helping those poor Scottish people, and lovely music I must say - very Celtic"). ......So...ahem.

42 is great and is only weighed down by being instantly comparable to a much, much better episode in Impossible Planet

Maybe it's been 'leaked' that she is starring as a lead role in s11, but not as the Doctor but in fact the new companion?

So some 'insiders' are betting on the wrong assumption? It's possible I spose.

I would delete the game before I'd play as Kriss Kross Dickshall.
