Guys like Lumburgh will appreciate hard work, attention to detail and availability. Ill give you a rundown of my day.
Come in, go to a meeting where 1/2 the crowd got no new info out of it.
Delete 200 emails, 5 of which were actually relevent to me, the rest is CC nonsense. (I had the last 2 days off)
Dick around on the internet
Take lunch
come back, write a bunch of software tests. Attempt testing, immediately hit a bug that prevents me from testing. File bug. Wait around without a response.
Write a few more tests, delete some emails to keep the tide at bay.
random hallways meetings about project at hand. Pretty typical.
Fuck around on youtube while wrapping up, making my tasks take 5 times as long as normal.
All through this fuckery I take like 10 smokebreaks.

Now, I've done a lot of blue collar work, where the opportunities to fuck around are extremely limited. Id say in any given day I do about 3 -
6 hours of actual officework on a 10 hour shift.

But when it comes to be crunchtime on a deadline, Ill go all day.

You clearly missed the point of the movie. The main character struggles with the meaningless mundanity of slaving away at an office, and struggles to find meaning or happiness in his own life. The story exemplifies that theme.
