It is Linklater's only "perfect" film and has a lot to offer in terms of character study and the culture of the time. Many memorable scenes and conversations, never really bored me, tragic at times, all in all what I would consider iconic filmmaking.

Eh I rewatched it last year and enjoyed myself. Little subtleties I didn't pick up on like that guy cockblocking the one dude in the bar.

it's on-and-off my all-time favorite film. usually goes between this and Gummo. I just love the vignette style of it, the atmosphere, the visuals, it feels more like a "film" and less like just storytelling with cameras. I feel like Waking Life shares a lot of this film's DNA and almost surpasses it with respect to execution, but the inconsistent animation quality detracts from it where Slacker has no problem as live-action.
