There's nothing saying they have to announce every kaiju's license being obtained; they don't wanna spoil EVERYTHING. Rodan/Mothra/Ghidorah are some of the biggest names with the Toho kaiju so they announced them at SDCC to get people excited.

Alternatively they'll announce Hedorah at SDCC I guess. Adam Wingard tweeted about Hedorah a few times right before getting announced as the Godzilla vs Kong director, as well as posting a GvsKK poster.

Kong Island was the worst Kaijufilm I've seen in ages.

So many characters just killed off for no fucking reason. The Texan soldier, the scientists, Sam Jackson, even John Goodman gets snapped up and everyone one moves on like nothing happened and its on to the next action sequence.

I've got no problem with characters dying to advance the story but what purpose did any of these deaths serve? What did we learn from their character arcs?

I do agree with him that having the monsters on the screen too much lessens the impact. Compare the first Jaws, where the shark remained terrifying because they hid it well for most of the movie, to its sequels where the sharks were onscreen far more and became less scary as a result. BUT, I'll also say that it should only be done that way for say the first half or so of the movie, after the dramatic full reveal then you can give the beasties more screentime.
