Breaking Bad got worse as it progressed. The first season was believable, but Walt progressively became more of a ridiculous villain. The series itself is still good but what I said is true.

Gus was fine. Season 5 wasn't bad, but they definitely fucked up the premise of the show. It shouldn't have ended with thrown in villains to make Walter look like a real human bean at the end; it should've had Walter be the real villain. Maybe he gets a moment of clarity Falling Down style, then dies of cancer, or rotting in prison, or in his ensuing showdown with Hank.

Breaking Bad had a stellar first and second season, begin to tail spin out of control in season 3, had a measured but uneventful "you're hype after you see it but unimpressed subsequently" big bang, then trailed off into season 5 with the only good parts of the show from the last three seasons being cutie Lydia, Todd and Uncle Jack.

They fucked the dog massively with how they handled the airplane collision, those stupid twins, Gus' whole two season fucking arc, and again a repeat of the airplane you see the gun in the trunk and they fuck that up too.

i would contend that the first season wasn't stellar because of the shortened run due to the writer's strike. how high can we objectively rate a season that wasn't even properly concluded? the second season was definitely the best in the show's run. half way through season three is when the show turned to garbage. season four and five were terrible since they seemingly abandoned the theme the show set in favor of larger than life almost comical villains and situations. it stopped being believable and compelling

Breaking Bad's finale was really good. I really enjoyed it, on my first watch I was on the edge of my seat just like everyone else was. But it was anything but satisfying, looking back. In fact, after watching the finale, amid all the hype of the friends I was watching it with, even through that honeymoon phase, I still thought "wow, was that it?"

Jessie really wasn't that great. He was 'dynamic', sure, but that was more of a result of not having much to do in the plot rather than any intentional writing brilliance. Remember, Jessie was never meant to be a main character in breaking bad. He was kept alive because fans liked him. Literally fan service.

Poor guy didn't even get a proper ending, they just sorta left it hanging. He's not a terrible character but he's one of the least memorable and well crafted.
