Robo-Doakes was the show's only hope.

the writers seriously lost sight of the Dexter character. In the beginning he is putting on a normal facade, and is slowly humanized by his experiences with Rita, (the brit bitch from S2), Miguel...but that was pretty much where the original idea was totally lost. Season 4 was decent with Lithgow, even 5 and 6 were salvageable due to good performances and Michael C. Hall's charisma. I just wanted Deb to confess to Dexter, did it ever happen?

There were so many pointless side stories that went nowhere. Seasons 1 & 2 are some of the best TV I've seen though.
