Lots of plain-ass capeshit gets above 90%, doesn't really mean shit.
>>
>>84838506
yes it does, it means it's true capekino

i unironically agree

thats what you call capekino

I don't know what part made me decide I wasn't going to see it, the troglodyte Cara being cast in it or the trailer being set to Gangster's Paradise.

>>84838421
It was Orc future, gook future, old man whimsical escape, nuclear plot in the 80s, gay musician, master and commander

Fucking shills
>>
>>84838246
I'm really happy to see that it isn't bombing like Jupiter Ascending.
>>
>>84838435
Its strange. I find that most 90+ movies are usually consistently well-made movies, but ultimately uninspiring. On the other hand, movies in the 40-80 range are usually more ambitious. Can you honestly say that WW and Spiderman deserve their 90% scores?
>>
It looks fucking pretty, but I'm afraid that's all it'll be.
>>
>>84839001
The movies with 90% and more are crowd-pleasers, and that means that by their nature they're more likely to be fairly vanilla, to appeal to the widest set of demographics.

The RT percentages just count the percentage of critics giving a positive review (even lukewarm counts as positive). The average ratings of many of those 90+% movies is often in the 7.x/10 range.
>>
>>84838246
>besson
>shit
pick both
>>
>>84839001
spiderman yes, it was a great film
I haven't seen ww yet
>>
>>84839171
lol
>>
>>84839001
I can honestly say it because RT score is a shit metric that is almost unrelated to quality. It's just an estimation on what are the chances of you liking a particular movie based on the thumbs up/down the critics gave to a flick. We all agree that WW was mediocre and Spiderman just plain bad, but 93% of the people who watched it liked it so the score was right for both of them

RT is one of the major forces behind the current state of hollywood, studios now try to play safe and please just a little the most people they can, instead of taking risks and eventually making great movies. That's why they only make sequels, reboots and capeshit with a couple of oscarbaits that are just as bad

>Cara

The living embodiment of the concept of nepotism

>Her aunt is Joan Collins
>Her godfather is president of Conde Nast, which owns Vogue, Glamour, GQ, and Vanity Fair
>Her grandfather founded the Daily Mail, which propelled her to fame by constantly running articles about her out of nowhere
>Her grandmother was lady-in-waiting to Princess Margaret

In case anyone is wondering why this 14-year old boy is being shoved down our collective throat, this is why
>>
>>84843667
*Her grandfather ran the Daily Mail, not founded it. Otherwise he would have had to have been born about 150 years ago lol
>>
>>84842969
I mean, if they were calling Besson a hack then I'd be inclined to agree with them. He's been doing the same semi-interesting but safe shit for years.
>>
>>84842917
He directed Leon and The Fifth Element, both I would argue were hits. And even though I hate it, Lucy did pretty well commercially.

He also wrote some other pretty well regarded action movies line like The Transporter movies.

So I'm not sure where you're getting this "one hit wonder" idea from. He's made shit movies but he's had a pretty long career and made a mark on the industry.

>The Razzies don't need to wait until the end of the year to anoint a winner for 2017. The Golden Turkey Awards should be republished with a new cover. Euro-trash is back, while sci-fi will need to lick its wounds for a while. Dane DeHaan, who has starred in two of the most egregiously bloated misfires of the year with A Cure for Wellness and now this, should do a couple of indie films, while Cara Delevingne needs to learn there is more to acting than smirking and eye-rolling. Rihanna should pretend this never happened. And the Hollywood studio chiefs can breathe easy that, this time, at least, they'll escape blame for making a giant summer franchise picture that nobody wants to see, since this one's a French import.

>Yes, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets really is that bad, bad enough that you don't know for the longest time that Valerian is one of the lead characters and not a planet or a spaceship. Sporting special effects and sets that smack of 50-year-old Barbarella-style tackiness, Luc Besson's $200-million eyesore will barely trigger a momentary blip on the American box-office radar screen, leaving Besson with the lone hope that there are parts of the world where the entertainment tastes remain, ahem, less discriminating.

>>84838246
Every time I see Valerian mentioned, I say "please be good" silently.

I'm the same way. I've really enjoyed the aesthetic we're shown in the trailers. It's like TFE meets Avatar.
>>
>>84843913
Yeah, calling Besson a one hit wonder is selling him really short. He's done some pretty big movies as a director, producer and a writer.

You can argue that some of them aren't very good, but a lot of them have been pretty successful.
