Name a Franchise, and name specifically THE FILM that went too far.
1. Fast and Furious Franchise. I think Furious 7 was the perfect ending.
2. Transformers. Should have stopped with part 3. I would have preferred it be a Shia LeBoeuf Trilogy and then went back to the drawing board to make a live action version of the Animated Movie.

Alien should have ended after the first film. everything afterwards has added nothing, serving only to weaken the original. Prometheus is the closest in tone and style, but it too falls flat.
