It is very visually driven; a simple story told very stylistically.

The best theory is that we don't know for sure what got them but something clearly did. Makes the movie creepier that way.

Calling this movie eyecandy would be an understatement.

Its style, story and neo-noir take on reality easily reels you into a troubled, yet beautifully weaved world of the harsh truths.

Character-wise, it's not the strongest, but neither does it need to be.
I think trying to make spicy characters in this particular setting would desaturize what Refn was trying to accomplish with The Neon Demon.

Everything works together, and leaves a mysterious haze of what reality itself really is.
