He has yet to make a good movie. And his next movie sure as hell won't be it.

he's okay
his last flicks have been shit, but he's made some fine films.

I can count three good scenes in Shame? Good as in they are well-shot and interesting, make me forget I'm watching an edgy genre-flick masquerading as a Paul Schrader character study. The less said about 12 Months a Slave the better, what hot boring trash that was. Some of the worst pacing and music, boring TV-style cinematography, a decent performance from Fassbender couldn't save it.

Fuck off. Spike Lee is a fucking hack. He can't go 3 minutes without reminding everyone that he's a black filmmaker or trying to morally blackmail black people into liking his films.
>if you don't give my films good reviews you're racist

He still made good movies, leagues better than Steve McQueen
>>84822879
his antics don't take away from his work.

Disagree about Shame. That's his best, imo. Though Fassbender really carries the film.

It is his best but I really don't think it's great. I understand it has its fans but Fassbender's character is just a boring guy and doesn't really come across as "vulnerable". It was a mistake in casting him I think. For instance, the scene where he takes his boss back to his apartment to have sex with his sister: As it stands, the scene was totally unrealistic and would not happen in any real world scenario. But this is compounded by the fact that it's Michael Fassbender. Do you really expect a guy who looks like Michael Fassbender to do that? I couldn't believe it, I just laughed at the movie, and it never recovered from there.
And on a side note, every time someone on /tv/ mentions Shame, I think for a second they are talking about the far superior Bergman film with the same title, but then I realize they are talking about the trashy one instead and it makes me sad.

>Bergman
Anyone mentioning anything made before 1970 is a rare occurrence here anyway. Shit sucks.
Tbh I haven't seen Shame in a few years. I just remember being totally drawn in by Fassbender's character and performance. Maybe I'll revisit the movie soon.
