It was alright.
I'm not a huge fan of the faux-anime look but the art was appealing, however much of the animation was poor.
Somehow it kept me engaged enough to keep watching through the abrupt end.
I'm interested to see what they do with a longer second season. It wasn't terrible, but there's a ton of room for improvement and I think it could end up being pretty good.

Hopefully people don't switch it off before trudging through the first two episodes. It honestly does get better, and it sets up the next season for more interesting shit than they started with (more actual Vampire Hunter Belmont and friends, and not "oh woe is me down on my luck Belmont").

It's garbage and you know it. Dracula's motivation was as half-assed as Coppola's and no one really wants to see Trevor spend 10 minutes in a bar fight as his first appearence. We wanted to see Simon wrecking shit, even if we have to deal with his Season 2 fetch quest afterwards, but oh wait Simon takes place chronologically after Trevor damn son.

How was his motivation half-assed? He had no real like of humanity before. After Lisa burned, of course he'd want to go aseshit on them. This is pretty faithful to the games and his motivations to spite God.

The pub scene went on too long but we soon see Trevor in action in the alley, and episode 3 and 4 we get to see Trevor in action as a monster killer. Works for me.

And fuck off , Trevor>Simon especially the way they're setting up the story.

There wasn't much development in that regard. It was "oh ok I'll teach you some science" to "wtf dudes you killed my wife". They should have mentioned Elizabeth too in that regard or some backstory of his inhumanity. I don't remember when the stake burning took place in the show but it seemed like Alucard could have been retconned as Elizabeth's son. I'm not fully knowledgeable about the Castlevania lore so do take my weak argument as it is. I was hoping more for like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kOTHNoODYmY than some OVA pilot spread apart as "episodes". I do look forward to the rest though I realized what was going wrong when I noticed Warren Ellis's name for the first time at the start of the second episode.
