Is it good?

>>84811453
Yfw empire state building will be next now...
>>
>>84811453
It's Marvel, of course it's good.
>>
>>84811453
No it's mediocre, just like every other MCU movie.
>>
>>84811453
definitive spiderman despite race swaps. Vulutre is a legit good villain

>>84811569
also this
>>
Honestly it's not good but very enjoyable. Michael Keaton was phomenal but that is to be expected. Also Keaton was probably the first and only quality villain in these movies. He actually had clear and understandable motivations.
>>
>keaton mounting and dismounting his wings
fucking kino
>>
>>84811489
Hahahah.

high browsing best browsing
>>
6/10 which makes it the best MCU movie since Iron Man 1 (6.5/10). They should really start making good movies
>>
>>84811719
Why does everybody praise each new marvel villain, then shit on them 6 months later. I remember:
>Ultron is the best villain since loki
>Zemo is the first good villain
>Ego is a great villain
>Vulture is the first good villain
It's almost like the Sonic cycle. Bet Hela will be the first good Marvel villain once Ragnarok comes out. That or everybody will be reminded how freat Tom Hiddleston is.
>>
>>84811972
*great
>>
>>84811972
Literally no one (at least on this board) praised the Quip Robot, he was universally hated.
>>
>>84811453
I liked it. Had to go to the dubbed version tho which made it unbearable to watch because of the dumb ~teen lingo~ But other than that it was quite enjoyable.
>>
>>84811764
Kill yourself.
There was literally no reason to mention that you were 'high' other than to look cool on an anonymous imageboard.
>>
>>84811719
I just liked that he was smart unlike every other MCU villain.

>Does everything he can to stay under the radar
>Figures out in 5 minutes that Peter is Spider-man
>Initially refuses to kill Spider-man because he knows that will probably bring other heroes down on him
>>
>>84811972
>>Ultron is the best villain since loki
>>Zemo is the first good villain
>>Ego is a great villain

Only shills praised Ego and literally no one praised the other two. Vulture is not great either
>>
>>84811453

went in expecting it to be just as shit as Ultron and GotG2 but was actually a decenly entertaining flick, felt like satire on the genre at times.
>>
>>84811972

no one praised neither Ultron nor Ego. Ultron in particular was endlessly mocked because of the constant quips spouting.

Zemo was ok. Vulture was ok as well.
>>
>>84812106
>look cool on an anonymous imageboard
>>
>>84812044
Okay but even then:
>Winter Soldier is a great villain
>Loki is a great villain
>Justin Hammer was great
>Jeff Bridges was great
Yet every other new villain is the first great one. Will this always be the case with each new Marvel movie?

Other question. How is the DCEU doing so far? Is Amanda Waller a great villain or the enchantress? How about Zod's snapped neck? Or Doomsday? I haven't seen Wonder Woman yet but did you like Ares?
>>
>>84812333
That's exactly my point.
If you're trying to do that by going 'dude I'm soooo high hahaha' then you should probably end yourself.
Something must have happened to get you to that point.
>>
>>84812349
now you're just making shit up to try and make your point valid. Shut the fuck up already.
>>
>>84812181
>Vulture is not great either
It's already starting. Also yes they did. The reactions on this board are quite different on release and a week later.
>>
>>84812377
Why are you so bitter?
>>
>>84812349
>How is the DCEU doing so far?
Zod is better than all MCU villains. Lex, Doomsday and Enchantress were all shit. Ares was pretty bad but Doctor Poison/Lundendorff literally had more chemistry than all MCU couples villains or not villains.
>>

Bad cgi and shitty supporting cast, vulture is ok but don't save the movie as a whole
>>
>>84812554
I do like that the whole reason they cast Peter's love interest as a dark skin was just to throw people off of the fact that Vulture was her father.

That was the only way to make her relevant so of course she was related to vulture in some way.Is sad that you didn't saw this coming.

maybe one day you can put your pride down and admit how much of a faggot you are for holding onto stupid grudges like dc vs mcu and trying to act superior. You'll take your first step one day too.

>>
>>84811453
Good pacing, good balance between funny and serious, didn't ruin serious scenes with quips. Great acting, great plot, stellar plot twist. villain didn't die. Vulture was great, Peter was great, Spider-man was great. The things people were worried would make the movie unwatchable(raceswaps, too much IM, Michelle) were barely noticeable and weren't nearly enough to ruin the movie.
>>
>>84811453
It was more or less same as other marvel movies.
>>
>>84812976
so yes, it was good.
>>
I think I've never seen a more meh movie than this one, but I was expecting it to be much worse. It was better than GotG2 at least
>>
Shitty as fuck, even worse than wonder woman.
>>
>>84812963
My only complaint with the movie was Ned, there was just too much of him and he was trying way to hard to be the funny fat guy friend.
>>
I enjoyed it, it felt less like a superhero movie and more like a coming of age movie splashed with drops of superheros.

If you compare it to the Original spiderman or the Amazing ones the combat isn't on par imo and there is much less action and the feel of a Spiderman movie just isnt there.

I still like it, I understand they wanted to change things up seeing as we got 5 Spiderman movies so far, I hope they make him a bit more mature for his next movie, and drop some more action and fighting scenes.
>>
>>84812919
>hey remember the avengers and civil war, you better go buy the dvd if you haven't or else you'll miss out goy

STOP WATCHING MARVEL MOVIES.

This. Solid 6. They wasted Keaton but after 15 movies I can't be impressed by their power to waste good actors on shitty villains
>>
>>84811453
Amazing. Best in the MCU.
>>
>>84812963
Pretty much sums it up.
Its not a superhero movie, its a coming of age movie plastered with some MCU faces on top, not what Spiderman enthusiasts have been expecting but still great.

One thing that did bother me was the lack of action and the shitty suit being too much like Iron Man
>>
>>84812919
They repeatedly reference the past movies and put in other heroes from the other capeshit movies in an attempt to make the viewer either buy the old movies on DVD to watch/rewatch them or basically drop some free advertisement to see upcoming MCU movies. They basically force you to make sure you're up to date on the lore and remind you to see the new movies coming out.
>>

you're treating these movies as if they're stand alone movies. Since the MCU was created, these are all literal sequels so expecting them to not reference each other is something only a retard would do.

because it's a stupid strawman question. Name 1 movie series that has like 20 movies in it and doesn't make references to multiple past movies

The whole premise of the MCU is that they share a universe SO WHY THE FUCK WOULDN'T THEY REFERENCE EACH OTHER
>>
>>84811453
Best MCU movie since winter soldier desu. I swore to quit mcu movies after doctor strange and I kept it up... until now
>>
>>84814078
Here (you) go
>>
>>84814362
They don't need to make constant references to the point where 50% of the plot requires you to know what happened in the other 20 or so movies. You don't see Friday the 13th reference every single movie Jason was in. You don't see Die Hard leaving references to what happened in every single movie. Even series like Rocky is easy to follow without having to watch the others. Meanwhile Marvel treats their movies like half need to be easter eggs from other ones.
>>
>>84814592
Not him but you're just mad you were too special needs to watch all the other films in time. I'm glad this film confused you.
>>
>>84814592
They're comic books. Comic books have ongoing stories. Deal with it.
>>
>>84813097
t. DC cuck
>>
>>84812485
why are you so autistic?
>>
>>84814782
Nolan's Batman is better than anything Marvel has with just 3 movies, without the need of some meme extended universe.
>>84814722
Marvel movies are for the lowest common denominator, not an argument.
>>
>>84814884
So? They had very different aims. The MCU is designed to bring the "comic book feel" to movies which includes larger on going stories and crossovers between properties. All you are saying is you don't like comic books so these movies aren't for you.
>>
>>84811453
Pros:
- Good acting by Keaton
- Holland was an ok Parker and spidey
- Vulture was ok, but nothing special

Cons:
- Shit tier action scenes
- Even worse quipfest than the previous capeshits
- Zero serious moments, jokes literally every 2 minutes
- Too much suit, spidey was literally using the shitty suit for 80% of the movie and was looking through walls and eavesdropping on people. Too much stark technology just meh
- New mary jane and flash thompson literally vomit inducing and not because of race but because they were shit characters
- Too much avengers bullshit, doesn't feel like a movie that will be recognized on its own.
- RDJ phoning his role in like usual
- Just a weak plot overall
- Peter is supposed to be 15 but he looks like a 22 year old.

My main problem was that it was just another capeshit blockbuster, no memorable moments, no tension and no emotion.
>>

Well i love Spidey, and if you remove all the side characters and Avengers/Marvel shit, its a good movie. Best Villian in MCU(Close to Zod) and charcterization of Spidey was very well done.

They should bring Kraven and Taskmaster for sequels and do more villians that feel personal to the hero. (Which is why i cannot wait for Reverse Flash and Black Manta in DCEU)
>>
I really wanted to like it, but its flaws avoided that from happening

Homecoming is almost like a deconstruction of capeshit. At times it feels like a parody of superhero movies.

Minor spoilers
Spider-Man is more or less fucking worthless in this movie, he basically fucks more shit up than he fixes. The villain is barely a villain at all and feels more sympathetic than most superheroes. It subverts quite a few tropes, for most of the movie Spider-Man basically has nothing to swing on.

This movie is neat.

>ethnic manlet with a rich dad
It's like complexes galore, he's not that smart either despite going to a specialised high school. Most bullying isn't done by the sporty blonde dudes who more often than not are nice enough guys.
>>
Why did people on here pay money to see a 2 hour plus movie that they knew they wouldn't like?

There have been like 14 other Marvel movies, you can properly judge from them and the trailer if you'd enjoy it or not.

I refuse to believe the

They obviously didn't want to make a big deal out of Ben in the first film; they've made a concious effort of not retreading the same area as the previous two iterations. I got a feeling we'll get more info on Ben in the next one.

Even with the forced diversity casting, TWO forced black romantic interests for Peter both replacing white characters, forced black romantic interests for other main characters, and black trans-MJ spouting BLM memes... yeah it's still good, in fact I fucking hate to say this but it's great.

Even with this fucking SJW anchor around it's neck the movie is so goddamn good it's kept from being dragged down. Everything about it that the SJW producers didn't ruin is perfect; Peter, the villain, the action scenes, the comedy, the script is really good, great performances as well. Most importantly it's fun and it's really funny. It's more of a comedy than anything else.

Honestly even with the negs that bothered me it's the best Spiderman movie and best Peter Parker ever. And I'm a big Toby/Rami fan and can't believe I'm saying that but its true. Without the SJW cancer and a white MJ love interest that could actually act it would have been the best capeshit ever period.

Grudgingly recommend to anyone.

Yes. The muscles in your esophagus continually move the food to your stomach. Because these muscles work automatically and autonomously you don't notice it's happening, but they activate every time you swallow food. Even upside down they will move food to your stomach.
>>
>>84816422
> every time you swallow food.

>>84816338
We never see their family in need, neither we see how did Keaton managed to make all the first deals (in the first scene), besides, how can he be against the "big cats" if he became one? It doesn't make sense to me
>>
>>84816478
He clearly wasn't a big cat himself.
>>
>>84811719
Keaton was the best since he was actually down to earth about why he was doing what he was doing. He wasn't trying to make some super weapon to kill everyone or other edgy shit, he was just running an illegal business enabled by advanced alien tech. He talks about how he just wants to support his family after Tony fucked up his legal disaster recovery business, so you understand him more. He even admired that Peter saved Liz and gave him a chance to walk away before he would have to kill him.

He's not a great villain, since he isn't really a big bad, he's just a likeable crook.
>>
>>84816478
wow, how stupid do you have to be to completely misread a character?
>>
>>84816478

It's different, we see Sandman's daughter in sickness, we see how their house looks like, a house with needs too, we see how he follows uncle Ben's "killer" to get the money, with Keaton, in the other hand...
We never see his family in need, we never see him in need, we never see why he complains about the big corporation bosses he complains about, in fact, we never see how he makes his suit, is that deailed to you?

>>84815792
>From beggining to almost the end, Peter seems like an Ironman Jr rather than Spiderman
>I couldn't take the character of Spider-man seriously, too many jokes
Read the comics. Parker is Stark-level intelligent but isn't a massive dickhead. Right now in the comics he even owns fucking Parker Industries. He mostly jokes to hide his own insecurities. I know basically every MCU character is a quipmemester, but you can't complain about Spider-Man not being entirely serious.

>There's a scene when Peter eats a dorito with a Batman sleeping kind of pose, how the hell is that possible? It wouldn't go to your stomach if you are in that pose

Keaton's been running his business for 8 fucking years, lad. He's doing what he's doing so that his family continues to live comfortably, he only starts going after the big ones once Peter starts interfering and he knows more people are going to get involved (FBI, Avengers, etc.)
>>
>>84816802

>>
>>84816772
That's just a sequence at the start. He doesn't do any video shit with his phone for the rest of the film.

It did feel a bit "fellow kids" on the writer's part.
>>
>>84816587
>His company wasn't in a good place

Because it was a secret company, it needed to be in a bad place, but, we see he has a good monetary life
>>
>>84816772
He isn't streaming anything. At the start of the movie it recaps him travelling to Berlin and meeting the Avengers through a video he's recording on his phone. It's only used at the very start and it's not bad.
>>
>>84816772
The video clips on youtube are just from passersby and aren't prominent in the film.
It's not Peter streaming himself in place of taking photos for the Bugle, if that's what you thought it was going to be.

>>84816865
you're getting it confused m8. In the beginning, he was running a legit company, a clean up crew for all the alien shit. Then the DAMAGE CONTROL org came in and took that job away from him. His company, his legit company, was fucked over and in a bad place because he over invested expecting to have work, and they took the work away from him.
>>
>>84816865
At the start he and his employees were a legit salvage business. There's an 8 year gap between that and us seeing his big fancy house.

If that´s the case, then why does he complain about big bosses if Tony, a big man, has made good things for society too (like in Ironman 1, 2, and 3)? Doesn´t make sense to me

>>84816787

What is working hard? Going to the company a couple of times? Doing the "dirty job" in his suit? (which by the way, makes things easier)

Yeah, clearly Ironman didn´t care about the mortal danger of the 3 villains in the Ironman trilogy...

Spider-Man being inexperienced is fine. The problem is that even during his first few months, Peter still used his brain plenty of times to overcome obstacles and that's a huge part of why he's so appealing.

In Homecoming we have a Spider-Man that swings through a collapsing ship planting web grenades that connects single lines one by one when the splatter web ability that shoots multiple at once was established just an hour earlier, and a final fight that was just Spider-Man dodging until the Vulture fucked himself over.

I'm not saying he should have built a disruptor or something to make Vulture's wings stop working but there should have been more situations like when he used the helicopter to get the momentum he needed to get into the Washington Monument.

I see where you're coming from. My counter-argument would be that a subtheme of the movie is his suit can do awesome shit (glue a boat back together again and xray vision and shit), but it's also holding him back because he can do great things on his own (lift building off himself, helicopter swing, fight vulture without karen moving his limbs and targeting for him).

My arguement is that he rejects the gimmick suit because he feels it's holding him back, and he'll become a truer spiderman moving forward because of this.

He wanted to be Spider-man with an Ironman Jr suit, right... If he would have wanted to be Spider-man he would have used his original suit in the end, primite, yes, not like the Tobey suit, yes, but, let´s face it, it´s a realistic design for a 15 year old skill/budget, and besides, it´s what characterizes Spider-man (his own made suit, which he keeps in his closet and backpack)

I can only hope so. I actually like the idea of Karen, but I do want them to find a better balance between the new high-tec shit she offers and the older aspects of the character make that Spider-Man interesting as is.

It is very good but doesn't quite rise above the MCU good-not-great barrier.
I'd rank them something like,
GotG2 > Iron Man > GotG > Avengers > Spider-Man >> Iron Man 3 > Winter Soldier >>>> the rest which range from alright to not bad.

Where you draw the line between good and great is personal taste, personally I think Avengers and above counts as great.

Yeah, I ignored 7-8 points that are obvious troll bait that have been copy-pasted multiple times this week, and responded to the ones it looks like he added in with actual, valid reasoning? I'm so evil.

>strawman
Telling someone kids aren't living the exact same lives as he remembers when he was in high school and that we don't relate to them (and the movie doesn't try to make us relate to them because we're old and not the target demo), this is strawmanning?

Literally 5 seconds into the movie, there's a joke mocking sjws where a non-white character corrects a white character for his language and the white character ignores him

>No. It's like I keep saying. They nerfed spiderman so he'll have something to do for the next seven spider man movies. The movie is not self contained because it's not intended to be.

No they nerfed him so they could rush him into the MCU. It took 8 writers and the movie is still a generic trope fest with nothing really that Spider-man about it with the exception that most of the reason the plot happens at all is because Peter is a fuck up at life.

Most of it is "remember how good those 80s were in your head? Take a moment as we try terribly to convince you this is a homage to goofy school comedies and not shitty writing to get Sony some money and us some toy sales."
>>
>>84822445
>No they nerfed him so they could rush him into the MCU.
Why would they need to nerf him to rush him into the MCU? If anything they would make him a seasoned crime fighter already and not need to bother with a solo movie where he's still learning the ropes.

>By text formatting

Since there's no thread on /co/ about this

Pros:
>Flash Thompson - Tony Revolori was the most accurate Flash by far. Flash Thompson was never a physical bully that beat people up and dunked nerds in toilets, he was just a popular asshole that mocked Peter endlessly.
>Animated eyes in the suit
>Vulture's costume
>The street level scenes
>Everybody isn't white
>Worldbuilding
Cons:
>Too much tech in the suit
>Ned Leeds - annoying and selfish, and Peter shouldn't have close friends.
>Liz Allan - she was boring and had a crush on Peter when she should've been popular and seemingly unattainable
>Michelle - acted like Gwen Stacey, should've been Gwen Stacey
>Midtown being a private school
>Tom Holland's voice
>Donald Glover can't act
>The Vulture was too sympathetic
>No Uncle Ben - Peter's entire motivation was to make Stark proud and prove that he was a big boy and no longer needed a booster seat
>Responsibility isn't leaned into at all except Iron Man being like "I'm responsible for you, kid"
>Aunt May is too able - May being old and sickly is the foundation for a lot of Peter's character and motivations. Her being younger is fine and makes more sense, but she should've been handicapped or something.
>Aunt May finds out Peter is Spider-Man as a joke, again her not knowing is the foundation for a lot of Peter's characters and motivations
>The Parkers aren't poor
>The music

It's shit, you should be able to tell from the amount of defensiveness in this thread. Capetards see these movies as a part of themselves, it's who they are. kek. They can't handle criticism, you can see how they're trying to push narratives like this >>84824816 to dismiss criticism, but the majority of /tv/ has great disdain for these products that are made to appeal to retarded children and people with the brains of one which is why it's so popular among the retarded masses.

>I like how you say it like it's bad that someone graduated high school and hangs out with people who are actually his age.
No, I'm saying that kids don't behave the way we did in high school and that's why all the grown ups watching the movie found the ways of the teenager weird, annoying or strange. Because we're not them anymore, and we don't get 'it' anymore. It's a totally new world we're not a part of. And anon on 4chan is really mad that these kids aren't modeling their behaviors on 90s cliches.

I'm saying that part of the movie wasn't for us to connect to, and surprise, we don't.
>>

S'alright... could've used less RDJ.
>>
>>84826300
Honestly it was nice being able to see him without the rest of the Avengers.

>Instead of dealing with world-ending / world-changing catastrophe, he's more down to earth, channeling the Tony Stark he portrayed in Iron Man 1. The last scene with RDJ felt like it was taken out of the Iron Man trilogy.

>Instead of being used as someone to banter off or a quip machine of he's an actual character central to the plot.

>Iron Man being in the film is obviously there to market the Avengers. But Marvel putting him in lots of roles where he is the antagonist or point of conflict (i.e Civil War) lead audiences to want less Iron Man future MCU films, which is exactly what Marvel wants.

>and hell who wants to see a film where Spiderman is the only superhero in his own universe. RDJ being there enforced the idea that Spiderman will be fighting along THE Avengers. That idea alone will destroy the box offices.

i thought captain america and iron man arent friends anymore, why is tony still making his shield?

I unironically think so. I went in expecting it to be not so great, and it turned out to be pretty good, and actually very funny.

I think part of that is we don't see the origin story. Homecoming never shows any part of how he became spiderman.
