I'm gonna have to agree. Why doesn't Spider-Man ever look real in these films? And why is the animation so fucking goofy as fuck? Do the animators forget they're animating a live action film and not a cartoon? This shit was so clearly animated by hand. Seeing him retardedly bouncing around and moving unnaturally made me think I was watching a film from early 00s.

Namely, it was like looking at any of the previous Sony films (especially the second Rami film) where Spider-man looked like he was made of play-doh.

Which doesn't make any sense because in Civil War Black Panther looks LEGIT AS FUCK and he was CG the entire time. THE ENTIRE FUCKING TIME.

Maybe it's the texture of the costume? Those night scenes with Peter in his home-made costume looked legit. Obviously a more cottony texture. It sold better than the smart suit.

It's really not. The newer films are less play-dohy but they still suffer from that herky-jerky bouncy animation that these CG houses can't seem to stay away from. It's like, no one ever tells them to reign it in. It's almost like forget they're animating people with actual bones and shit.

It's almost as if nobody specializes in LIVE ACTION effects work and they just hire people who work on cartoon films.

And like I said before, this shit don't even make sense when you have fully CG characters like Black Panther who look convincing and totally sold it in every scene.

Because, even with all the money at their disposal, a lot of blockbusters are made in post. Film a lot of shit and stitch everything together. Let the many VFX houses from around the world do a scene here and there (ILM can't do every movie with their full attention) and you'll be able to shit something out. Because they have to make their money back and keep things bland enough for the global audience, it makes money and they do it all again on the sequel. It is what it is at this point.

Listen, MOST of it looks good. I'm not gonna front on that, but do they think we're not gonna notice this shit? Some parts look PS2 cut-scene tier. And again, the models are too smooth! Why do they make them so clean? Looks like some SFM shit. Then you have the ragdoll physics when he's knocking people out with the pole. And the usual herky-jerky motions. Ugh, disaster.

Do general audiences not notice this?

The scene is mostly good, mind you but I totally noticed this shit when I saw it in theatres. The practical shots hold up.

What I meant is that the film just seemed to take place in Manhattan. (The city.) And that look is so genericized these days that it doesn't really stand out (to me) anymore. It's ordinary. When a film takes place in NEW YORK it seems directors only wanna feature the city.

So to see Queens and local landmarks highlighted so promptly the film felt more legitimate. More AUTHENTIC. It wasn't like watching a TV sitcom that pretends it's from NY but shot on several stages.

And listen, I'm aware they have an Avengers version of NYC on a computer but those Queens scenes are the truth.

I saw the made in Georgie logo and not the Love NYC film logo at the end so probably. Hey, whatever they had to do they sold me on their version of Queens. That bodega got a huge pop in the theatre. Down to having a bodega cat! I could hear people marking out when they saw local landmarks.

What I didn't mention in all this ranting against Spidey is how 90% of the time I believed the Vulture. That shit looked real and part of the shot for me. I'm sure there were some odd moments but I can't think of any.

My biggest beef with all these shots in the animation. I wish it wasn't so cartoony and bouncy. Why do they do this? Who keeps reinforcing these unrealistic overly animated effects?

Peter Parker falls in love with Mary Jane Watson.
