Its easier to frame shorter actors

when you have a male actor opposite their co actors, in particular their female counterpart, its easier to get both people in the shot if they're roughly the same height

If one actor is 6'1 and the other is 5'11, its virtually impossible to have a closeup of the two actors unless the short one is one a giant soapbox out of shot. The height gap is just far too big to close, so leading men in Hollywood tend to be height equivalent to the leading women
