The first book is a good standalone, it's pretty cringey though. I haven't read them in years, and kind of grew out of all that stuff, but the first two or three ASOIAF books are quite a bit better and honestly feel more creative. It's basically a collection of RPG-tier fantasy tropes and watered down and altered LOTR locations and enemies

This is going to bomb unless it goes for the young adult audience and doesn't seek to do every book; meaning it can't have as high a budget as GoT as it won't have as large an audience

I actually didn't get what that poster meant; there is very few similarities between WoT and ASOIAF. Unless he meant that GoT will serve as a blueprint for WoT as a TV series, then yes, obviously
