Why was it easier to train oil drillers to become astronauts than it was to train astronauts to become oil drillers?
>>
>implying nerds would ever learn how to drill oil like a man
kek step away sissy bitches while the jocks go to space

They didn't really train them to become astronauts. There were actual astronauts sent on the mission with the drillers. Harry's team was just given a crash course so they would be prepared to work on the asteroid.
>>
Because it was just a very shit movie.

shut the fuck up
>>
remember that part where the miles-long oil pipe bursts resulting in tons of oil being sprayed in all directions and all they needed to fix it was some shouting and 'elbow grease'
>>
Actual astronauts flew the ships, not the drillers. Still, drilling on an asteroid is way different than drilling on Earth, with the lack of gravity and different rock composition. And if the pilots got killed, the drillers would be boned trying to fly the ships. So yeah, it would have been better to have astronauts trained to be drillers.
>>
Why didn't they just not bother and let the cursed earth perish like it deserves?
>>
I unironicly like this movie
