The debate isn't even the right debate.

They were on a break. They absolutely were. So when Rachel tries to teach Ross' son later to recite that they weren't on a break, she's just being a lying, manipulative cunt.

As for whether Ross was in the right to fuck someone while on that break, yeah. Probably not. He obviously only did it because he assumed that Rachel was upstairs fucking Mark (was that his name?) at that exact same time, but that doesn't make it okay. He should've officially dumped her on the phone before hanging up on her.

To he fair both of them were at fault as they were both mad at the other and wanted to act petty and hurt them instead of simply acting like adults and aknowledging that they weren't working out. The problem was that neither of them talked about what a 'break' meant and so they both had different ideas about what they could and couldn't do. Like most sitcom problems this could have been solved by them showing a hint of maturity and taking a few minutes to actually talk about their problems.

Was there ever a point where the two of them, post-"break", attempted to define the parameters of the "break"?
