It's pretty amazing that the Raimi movies, at least the first two, were so well loved when they were released. All those bold, corny moments are great stuff and they never undermine the pathos behind all the wackiness. It's just strange that it people didn't even seem to notice that the films were corny until Spider-Man 3. Look at the fight between Captain America and Iron Man at the end of Civil War. It's supposed to be this brutal, heartrending fight, but the weight just isn't there. It's not even close to being as brutal OR fun to watch as the last Spider-Man vs Goblin fight.
