Got fucked over by the government and tried to make ends meet. Later points out Stark was a fucking arms dealer and wouldn't even have the resources to fund Iron Man or the Avengers without the billions he made off those sales. He even gives Peter a chance to to walk away, live and let live because he's honorable enough to respect that Peter saved his daughter. He doesn't go Green Goblin on him and try to fuck him up even after realizing he's Spider-man until he's left with no other option. Instead Peter completely fucks over him and his family. And even after all that, he doesn't reveal Peter's identity.

Honestly the Vulture is what made me go from liking to loving this movie.

He's not a super complicated character, but his sobering realist views provided the perfect contrast to youngster Spider-Man. The fact that his motivation is largely hidden for most of the movie makes the twist so good, it really is a "oh shit" moment and you instantly understand him.

Also, I loved that Spider-Man actually listened and learned from him. Not just 'You bad guy I stop you!", it made their chemistry feel much more real.

He was obviously well off, but if he stopped he would most likely run out of money sooner or later. He says that he has "one last job" as well to his wife, implying he would be able to retire.
>>
This was probably the funniest of all of Marvel's movies. When did you laugh the hardest? For me it was when Spidey was on the news, and their stock photo of him was his stepping out of a portopotty.

You can safely add "Did nothing wrong" to your filter list. Yeah, you'll miss one good thread out of a hundred, but the others are all shitposts. Like the classic we had last night, "DUCAT DID NOTHING WRONG" and the responses were mostly "He only killed five million Bajorans, he should have killed them all!"
>>
>>84736560
I don't remember that part, when are you referring to?
>>
>>84736723
At the end when he parts with Liz and he awkwardly walks past her instead of coolly walking away.
>>
>>84736340
Or, picture this:
>steal tens of thousands of dollars

I don't know why you've written that off as a possibility to make your point.

You're trying to tell me that the best use of phasing technology is to perform heists to steal volatile technology that your buddy can make into futuristic weapons in your hidden gas station lab, so that you can later sell gravity guns and lasers that can slice through a building across the street to low-level thugs who want to rob ATMs in plain sight.

There's a lot of things wrong with this plan, not including the fact that you could maintain superiority over your enemies by keeping your superior weaponry for yourself instead of having it literally on the streets.

Spider-Man literally sees them demo one of these weapons from miles away and when he gets there, turns out they're offering the weapon to Donald Glover's character who turns out to be driving a hoopty with no rear windows. Which means if nothing else, they're really bad a finding and screening potential clientele.

As opposed to just stealing and laundering cash money or literally anything of value that can be quickly and effortlessly flipped for large sums of cash without first having to be integrated into a laser cannon.

Sorry but what you're saying doesn't make any sense and trying to be cheeky about it does you a disservice.

>>
>>84737850

>>
>>84736965

OK, how about it being relatively safer in terms of arousing the suspicion of law enforcement to stick to stealing stuff that is going to just be locked away in a massive vault.

Robbing a bank is a pretty public crime and it would be easier to keep behind the scenes, selling weapons for cash. Arms dealers exist in the real world, why don't they just deal drugs or rob pawn shops instead?

The Vulture suit seemed like the most superior tech they had and they kept that for themselves.

I can't really explain them selling to some random street thug, that was a little too "thrown in to advance the plot".
>>
>>84733533
>Mr. Gamgee, I'm Hobbiton.

>>84737887
For diversity of course, there's not many black villains in marvel. In this case, it actually makes sense because most blacks are poor and it gives more weight to the reason why vulture had to do what he did.

Vulture and Obidiah Stane/War Monger are the only well done villains in the MCU in my opinion.

I thought for sure Toomes was a goner once he found out who Peter was. If they don't bring Keaton back, that's a big mistake. They could actually make a sinister six thing work since Vulture was the original leader. They got a good start with Vulture, but I bet they drop the ball. Other than Loki, I can't think of a single recurring villain. I highly doubt they get Keaton back since he doesn't seem like the type t do a contract.

See in this life, there is no greater ecstasy for a white men like us to experience than that of interracial sex with a bodacious lady of color. My own grandfather called it 'jungle fever'. Originally, he just wanted revenge on his business partner who screwed him over and then fixated on revenge against Spider-Man for screwing him over.

Over time it shifted to him being an old man who likes being a supervillain because it makes him feel young and powerful, which led to his "seeking for the Fountain of Youth" phase.

Lately they've introduced his long-lost black daughter and grandson with cancer. He's doing it for them now.

The movie doesn't repeat anything at all and feels fresh as fuck, it's actually surprising considering the mess of films that came before and the amount of brain dead execs meddling in these movies.

Homecoming doesn't have the "heart" of Raimi's SM2 ( nor does it go for that angle ) but everywhere the previous movies failed, this one nails perfectly, even with all the nitpicking I can do. Take that as you will.

Yeah, no. The audience knew who Norman was from the very first second and you accompany his progress into madness, there's no surprise and no twist whatsoever there. You can't even compare the two situations and I feel worse for having to read your retardation.

Why does a guy with zillions of arms dealing dollars send his daughter to some plebian highschool in Queens?
>>
>>84741326
Doesnt have to do with education, just what he was used to hearing. Turned his reminascing into a political statement, like I am sure the character was ready to say something. They were under contract, so he didnt want to risk the job by coming back. When he lost his job was when he let loose and decked that other guy.

Or I am over analyzing a small statement that probably just said that for laughs.
>>
>>84743942
did you pay attention anon, it's a science & tech focused academy. basically mid tier level education, which considering the NYC public education system is a fucking great school

the opening scene of the movie is about him losing his contract, he can make ends meet but he's not a zillionaire. once he starts stealing shit he's comfortable but a super high level education for a teenager is out of his ballpark financially

>I can't really explain them selling to some random street thug, that was a little too "thrown in to advance the plot".

It was a long running theme in the comics that low level street thugs in NYC were getting super-tech and using just to rob armored cards and shit.

Villains were often scientsits capable of creating anti gravity weaponry and shit like that but then used it to steal diamonds. Others simply stole prototype power armor and shit like that to become super-street criminals.

it was always the runnign joke that they could have sold the patent for millions and instead of using their one-off prototype for petty street crime. This is what spider man is all about.

The actor's some kind of hispanic. His name is Tony Ravioli or something similar. I thought he was a pajeet too after watching Grand Budapest Hotel in which he plays some kind of middle-eastern guy.

I'd argue he's a more realistic bully anyhow. It's usually spazzy kids with some kinda complex who bully people like that, not the handsome sporty guys who in my experience are nice enough people.
>>
>>84745397
I think this was one of Homecoming's best aspects, they managed to modernize a lot of Spider-man's aspects and it worked very well for the most part. Frankly, Marvel's comic department should take some notes from this movie.

I unironically think this is the best MCU movie and quite possibly the greatest capeflick of all time.

The two things that drag it down is feeling a bit too generic MCU capeshit at times (though most of the time it doesn't) and Michelle; who frankly was fucking terrible and all of her jokes were everything I hate about "weird girl humor".

Basically everything else I adored. It's geniunely uplifting and inspiring, which feels rare for superhero movies ironically enough. Holland was great, Keaton was amazing and the twist was perfect. I even fucking laughed at a couple of jokes. It actually feels like Marvel listened to people complaining about MCU starting to feel stale and answered with this movie. It almost cured my superhero fatigue, almost.

Bane has been casted as Venom for his own film by Sony because that's what they agreed on. Everything related to but not Spiderman himself can be on their end of the Marvel table.

Or they are going to shit the bed and change Mac Gargan into Carnage. Could be anyone's guess. Those slimy chinks just need to let go of a franchise and not suck on it like some slushy with all the flavour sucked out.

I liked him a lot, he had the most personality of the 3 Flash's so far. And stronk bullyboy character isn't really interesting because all of us know that Peter isn't actually in danger, it's just a matter of time until he ends up besting BigFlash in some way since he's actually physically superior. Having it be some little turbomanlet that serves a Lex Luthor type role that can't just be punched gives him more value to the narrative.

In Civil War there's a moment where he's facing toward the camera and behind him Bucky throws some big object at him, and he knows it's coming before turning around while saying "Oh God", so who knows. >>84746906
Spider-Man's villains being good or not doesn't really matter that much, what matters is that they are memorable and can easily be molded into something more interesting, like this movie showed.

Mysterio, Scorpion, Kraven, the list goes on. None of these characters are super interesting writing wise, but they are iconic; and you can do fun stuff with them.
>>
>>84736220
I knew he looked familiar!
But yeah, shocker sucks
>>

The problem is that they aren't even iconic. Those five/seven (two of which are the same idea on a different character) are the only villains a layman would be able to name and Sandman wouldn't be on that list if not for the movie. Hell, the layman won't even know about Hobgoblin or Carnage. Vulture is only known for being the old guy dressed as a vulture. Those character concepts and designs are straight out of sixties-era "THE WALL" writing.

>>84747618
It's called norse mythology because it's from the norsemen, ie the people who inhabited scandinavia. The modern divide between sweden, denmark and norway wasn't as pronounced back then and was more related to tribes. Sweden for example was inhabited by two larger tribes (ie peoples) known as the Geats (or Goths) and the Swedes which were unified at some point. The swedish king was known as The King of the Swedes, the Goths, and the Wends up until the mid 70s when the current king got the crown and simplified it to King of Sweden.

A lot of what we know about norse mythology was compiled by an icelandic monk some hundred years after the peninsula was christianised.

Fuck, I remember a friend of mine having some Mysterio action figure like 15 years ago. I'd completely forgotten he existed.
>>
>>84749955
They managed to make the Vulture an intimidating figure, which is a pretty impressive feat in itself. A Mysterio would be great.
>>
>>84743272
People constantly refer to him as "that Vulture guy" and etc.
>>
>>84748446
The fat guy designing the weapons is not your normal scrub. He's supposed to be a supervillain as well.

Could Vulture beat Falcon
>>

Yes

Falcon's basically just been that bloke who can fly. Vulture's exo-skeleton and sharpened wings are fucking sick in comparison, he's also Michael Keaton.

I know everyone has said it but I think Bruce Campbell can work.

>Special effects powerhouse and actor in the 80's
>Has been actor now and CGI has replaced practical effects
>Has a shot at a remake/revival of his movies like Ash vs Evil Dead but has no budget
>Wants to steal money using his Mysterio suit from one of his films and his special effects knowledge
>Loves for a moment that he's in the spotlight again when he sees himself in the news
>Get frustrated that Peter doesn't get all his references to classic movies, makes fun of him when he tries to ham up his appearances as Mysterio, and gets mad when Peter "messes up the shot"
>>
>>84750196
Falcon has guns

It's the only advantage I can think of lel
>>
>>84732951
>tried to make ends meet

by committing crimes. That's where he went wrong. Best Spider-Man movie villain and probably best villain in the MCU.
>>
>>84733057
I thought they are called Norse gods
>>
>>84749793
Spidey is generally thrashed around in this movie. Even the Shocker would have done him in if Ned didn't arrive in time.
>>
>>84749955
Kevin Feige said the next film will not be rehashing a villain from the other films.

It's most likely Scorpion, but Mysterio seems like close second place imo. I actually think he could be amazing for this inexperienced Spider-Man, because Mysterio is supposed to be a fraud that uses smokes and mirrors. This fits very well with Homecomings more small-scale lighthearted style. They could have tons of fun with that.
>>
>>84750248
They are. Norse = general scandinavians from about 1,000 years ago.

>>84750212
>Get frustrated that Peter doesn't get all his references to classic movies
Peter's inability to actually name Empire Strikes Back and calling it "that really old movie" in Civil War bothered me more than anything else in that film. No kid who's any level of nerdy would NOT know what Star Wars or the Empire Strikes back is, and then he and his friend are getting excited by a lego Death Star in Homecoming? Bothered me even more, because he's obviously into it.
>>
>>84746878
you realize Sweden gave up on their norse faith long after the norwegians did for christianity, right? Sweden was one of the last norse nations if not the last that converted to christianity.
>>
>>84745362
This. This movie just perfectly intertwined and balanced the heroic part of his life with the personal one, wihich is essential to every competent Spider-Man story, and this twist was just a great culmination of all of that.
>>
>>84750312
Maybe they could have both villains since Homecoming had 3 supervillains work together

Don't forget Tony and Rhodes also thought that was a dated reference

Plus Spider-Man was fighting Giant-Man, it was an exciting moment for him so he probably wasn't thinking straight

I actually did forget that. All I remember is Rhodes asking Tony how old the kid is, and Tony responding that he didn't carbon-date him.

Star Wars is the biggest movie franchise *ever*, not being aware of Empire Strikes Back is ignorance at this point.

>>
>villain is my friend's dad!
>comments on strength of handshake
>figures out spiderman's identity

These hack writers just stole all their ideas from previous spidermen

Also "I did it to support my family " breaking bad ripoff

That being said keaton vulture was a likable guy and a good dad, refreshing in a world of smug billionaires and annoying quippy shitheads. it was hard to watch knowing he would lose. How many "bad guys" has Tony created by being a selfish dick? Then he defeats them and rewards himself with a champagne party and we're supposed to love him. THEY CAN'T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH IT.

Vulture was right. Also he was the only watchable part of this teen Disney trash.

RDJ is a faggot and Ironman is a shit tier character no one cared about, he only got to be star of the MCU because Spiderman and the Xmen were taken
>>
>>84750391

I liked him too. The bullying comes from a status thing, in this movie that fits like a glove and definitely makes more sense than having Flash be a jock.
>>
>>84750442
>Star Wars is the biggest movie franchise *ever*, not being aware of Empire Strikes Back is ignorance at this point.

Nah there are people who just don't know Star Wars and think its cool to not care about it because its so huge. Not even snobs do that, I've seen plenty of normies completely ignore Star Wars for some reason.
Plus billionaires like Tony or busy military guys don't have time for all the movies
>>
>>84750330
>Empire Strikes Back and calling it "that really old movie" in Civil War bothered me more than anything else in that film.

If the dates are correct and Civil War took place in 2016, then ESB is 36 years old. If Peter is 15, then Star Wars was already 24 years old when Peter was born in 2001 so it's not too far out there for him to refer to it as a old film.
>>
>>84746256
I believe it's one of the best MCU movies so far. In the Top 5, I'd say, at least imo.
>>
>>84750456
>These hack writers just stole all their ideas from previous spidermen
yep
I liked the scene where spidey tried saving all those people by spinning a bunch of webs on each side and then holding them, just like in Spiderman 2!
>>
>>84750330
Maybe what should bother you is your terrible memory, or whatever it is that's going on in your head if you remember yourself being frustrated over something that didn't actually happen.
>Spider-Man: Hey guys, you ever see that really old movie, Empire Strikes Back?
>War Machine: Jesus, Tony, how old is this guy?
>Iron Man: I don't know, I didn't carbon date him. He's on the young side.
>>84750382
>Don't forget Tony and Rhodes also thought that was a dated reference
Sounded more like Rhodes was shocked at how young Spidey was and Tony had to defend it.

I think he does have it, but it's discreet. There's a moment during the ferry battle where Shocker cokes running full speed behind him and Spider-Man easily evades his punch, knocks him on his ass and jokes about how the guy before him could handle the gauntlet way better.
>>
>>84750447
>Villain
Mysterio.

>Hero
Voice of some cgi character.
>>
>>84750525
ESB was already 14 years old by the time I was born and I didn't see it until 04. It's hardly a new film and yeah, you could call it old, but his perspective of time isn't that different from mine and it's status has definitely made it more timless than it otherwise would've been.

>>84750519
Peter's not an ignorant normie though, he's the epitome of a nerdy teenager. And I did say "aware", I know people who haven't actually watched them but still know the plot points and the "I am your father" bits.

Maybe I'm just easily entertained, but I thought "Spider-Man has nothing to swing on!" was one of the funniest running gags ever.

I loved Spider-Man as a kid and often dreamt of being him, but I also grew up out in the country; I was often thinking about how I would be able to get around if I actually was Spider-Man. Seeing the movie tackle this was quite possibly one of the most funny and satisfying feelings ever.
>>
>>84750804
Next line:
>Spider-Man: You know that part, when they're on the snow planet, with the walking thingies?
I suppose you could interpret that as him not nerding out about it enough to say Hoth and AT-AT's/Imperial Walkers, but you could also interpret it as him being a bit distracted by the exact details given the situation, or that he might want to reference what he's talking about to the team in a way that doesn't rely on them nerding out about it and knowing the exact names, or you could interpret it as the screenwriters wanting to write in the reference for general audiences to get it without relying on them all to nerd out about it to get the reference and the subsequent payoff.
But I don't think Peter himself carries any disrespect for the movies. I mean, he did just reference it in the middle of a fight with a bunch of unrelated shit going on, instead of just saying "hey let's trip this guy". He probably got a nerd boner getting the chance to reference fucking star wars in the middle of the most serious and intense moment of his life up to that point.
>>
>>84749665
Yeah, that was the ending. Him talking to Black Panther before attempting suicide.

Speaking of his swinging and shit. I know how they made his web shooters artificial in this iteration of him, but what about his climbing? I think I remember Tony asking him if he had micro-fibers in his gloves or something in Civil War, but does he, or is that an ability he got from the spider?
>>
>>84750861
I have to say they did get a great cast, besides the MJ character, I know they said she isnt THE MJ, yet. And the only reason I find bad is she doesn't act anything like MJ.

Who gives a shit about race when they can't even get her to act like she should, some basic ass bitch who gets knocked down a peg and humbled, because lets be serious she is second prize to Gwen.

Yeah that makes sense, anon. I'm just freaking out a bit about remembering everything wrong.

I must've been fucked up when I watched Civil War cus I'm the guy who didn't remember the villain either.

Atleast I got something right.

If you look at his homemade costume you can actually see he's wearing fingerless gloves.

Tony's suit most likely solves the glove problem with some space tech.
>>
>>84751047
Go watch it again. People give it shit on here for the airport scene but I thought it was full of tons of hilarious shit.
>Falcon and Bucky are running through a building and Spidey pops over on the window and starts climbing along the side of the building keeping up with them
>Bucky: What the hell is that?
>Falcon: Everyone's got a gimmick now.
Falcon had all the best lines
>>
>>84751145
Makes sense. So his spider powers are super strength, agility, senses and climbing?

Thinking back on it, the wrist-spinnerets Maguire's Spidey had were really freaky.
>>
>>84751226
Hasn't Peter always produced webbing and just pressurizes it in the shooter?
>>
>>84751226
>Thinking back on it, the wrist-spinnerets Maguire's Spidey had were really freaky.
It makes more sense than having "web shooter machines" that create web out of thin air.
>>
>>84751270
I dunno, anon. I haven't really read the comics at all, everything I know about Spider-man is based on cartoons from like 2000 and the live action films. I know he almost always had web-shooter though.
>>
>>84750312
Won't he be at least a bit more experienced after helping the Avengers fight Thanos and the Black Order, though?
>>
>>84750121
Pretty much.
>>
>>84750901
I've always wondered that, and it was pretty funny of them to actually address it in a movie.
