Nice guys

This was such a mediocre film. I don't understand how it got such a high score on Rotten Tomatoes or why everybody acts like it was any better than average.

It's good, but I had a hard time finding the charm it obviously was trying to show, so it isn't really memorable.

Ryan Gosling screaming like a girl is one of the funniest things I've seen in some time. Russell Crowe was kind of doing his regular shtick, although I do like that we was willing to act dumber than usual.

It's literally the same movie as Lethal Weapon, The Last Boyscout, and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, just with 1970's shit all over the place.

That said, Shane Black can only do one kind of movie, but he's pretty ok at it.

The Goose was pretty funny in it, I liked the "I don't think I can die!" part.

To be honest, the genre it's working in accentuates the film's lack of substance. There have been a lot of great neo-Noir films that explored the depth of the genre in new and interesting ways, so a film that just takes it and has film with it seems slightly shallow by comparison. It was a lot of fun tho.

I really liked it. Thought this was going to be the one Shane Black movie without Christmas but then the bar scene. And since it flew under normie radar, I was able to pick up a theater issued poster for cheap.

To be fair, it's the last three minutes of the movie, and it's L.A. in the middle of the day, so it barely registers. Shane black must've done that on purpose, like "You fuckers bet I forgot about Christmas, huh?"

It is funny and the main characters are good.

But the themes are exactly the same as in Lethal Weapon, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and so on. A woman connected to porn gets killed in LA and two buddy cops have to solve the case while quipping. I liked it but we've all seen it before.
