CGI honestly looks better alone instead of combined with live action to me. You can also do way more ambitious shots, settings, characters and so on since the only real limitation is time/money. Kingsglaive and Gantz are the only movies to make it look really good so far, too bad the stories suck. There's actually a lot of potential in realistic, completely CGI movies that I think american studios are overlooking.

Complexion, skin tone, hair, face structure look good, but the animation for the expressions and hand still needs work, as might the hair, but that can be fixed like in witch 3. That grip on the cup is unacceptable. Vidya will reach a more polished version of photo realistic humans before movies do. But developing an engine to simulate hair (and clothing) with gravity, wind and characters movement is almost there.

Just need more animators doing the wiring for facial expressions. That's a fucking long and tedious job though.
