I don't mind the show when I think "the characters are Tropes On Purpose!" but the black guy's character is the only unique one. But he was like sent away to planet x for no reason a couple episodes ago

I feel like the writers have done a decent job of tossing curve balls when you least expect it. The crew is constantly getting screwed over and always having to make due in really shitty circumstances. It's like the writers are really enjoying writing themselves into corners and working themselves back out. I'm liking that they gave 4 a completely separate arc and they're seeing it through instead of just resetting him back onto the ship after a few episodes.
