It's an 80's movie with cape shit bits glued in. There's even a really quick scene with a tv showing a clip of ferris bueller's day off while Peter does the same action. The villains are every day random crooks that hit the jackpot just like Spidey's an ordinary kid that got bit by a radioactive spider. RDJ's in it for barely 10 minutes. The highschool scenes are fun, feel natural and not forced at all, love sub plot isn't that relevant and doesn't drag the movie down. It's teenagers being themselves.

Michelle = MJ was dumb as fuck and got a lot of groans in my audience. The twist at the end was really well executed. Doesn't have as much heart as Raimi's SM2 but it does its own thing with the character and everything that shouldn't work ( and it didn't in ALL the previous movies ) works here. It's not a bad movie by any means.

It was an absolutely wonderful movie.

It almost felt like a parody of modern superhero movies at times. Spider-Man just fucks things up constantly. He's barely even a superhero, just an awkward kid with powers trying to be the best person he can; it's fucking beautiful. I can't remember the last time a superhero movie actually felt this inspiring, probably as far back as Raimi's SM2.

It unironically reminded me why I liked superheroes as a kid to begin with.

Atleast the guy playing Spider-man was less than 10 years older than his character. I think the difference was more like 6. He made for a more convincing high schooler than Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield who were both in their late 20s - early 30s when doing their Spider-man films.

Having him play a 15 year old really was pushing it though. Just two more years and it wouldn't have been as silly.

I liked the movie a lot but someone explain this scene to me.

I thought it was more of a cut at Shocker in general. He is a well liked character but always seen as non-threatening compared to others. He is one of my personal favroite villains, didn't see a problem with it. Also a funny way of showing how titles are passed to different charactera (like how many people call themselves Venom in the comics).
