Couldn't he have just said 'hot, Earl grey tea' like a normal person and the computer would recognise it, engaging the command after the sentence had finished.
It feels like he's selecting from a list of sub catergories, so most of the time people would just say 'tea' and they get the default tea but you can select another type by essentially ticking a box.
It's the 24th century for fucks sake, the computer should figure it out.
Why does he specify "hot"?
No one drinks cold tea.
7 of 9. Naked. My bunk. Hot.

Americans do, they call it ice """""tea"""""

Here you may not be English but I am, so I'll explain a little about how we drink Tea.
When he specifies 'Hot' he is referring to the temperature of just after boiling, some people like drinking Tea this hot, I don't.
Personally I prefer waiting until it's cooled a little so it does not burn me, I would call this warm Tea, but I have friends who drink it perfectly fine 'Hot'. As for cold Tea, some people like it cold, with ice and a little sugar, this is called an Ice'd Tea,

If he didn't the replicator would serve the tea at a temperature that can't possibly burn you if you try to drink it immediately.
Picard wants it hot so he has to take his time with it and so some of the water will evaporate and fill the room with its aroma.

Where's that guy who shows up in /trek/ threads to say they're cancer and threads that don't mention Star Trek are better? I want to see the look on his face.

They couldn't find this thread in the catalog without "trek" in the OP.
