It's pretty meta when you can actually pin point each cinematic incarnation (even the Spidey movie pre-Raimi's) into the different comic incarnations.

All are based off of different arcs.

Tobey is best. Garfield was intolerable (but could have been good if the director cared more) and Holland has shown me that having a Peter that is more accurate to high school age is a bad idea because, as it turns out, actual high school kids are insufferable.

It hasn't really been discussed.

But based on Civil War and a few scenes from Homecoming, it's either not there or severely underdeveloped.

For example, in Civil War where Spidey is blind sided by Falcon's drone Hawk.

The greatest thing about Spider-Man is that his arc is from him being in high school (did he start as a sophomore in the comics? I always saw him as a senior or junior) but anyways, then goes into college and adulthood.

Adult Spidey is dark as fuck. There's a series where he becomes a recluse and goes insane and into mad depression.
>>
Holland is good when he isn't distracted with garbage HS stuff
>>
>>84696766

Toby forever

I will say I kinda like the new guys voice I think it actually fits the character decently

but when it comes down to it Toby is just a better actor than the other two which makes sense considering he's been in many more successful movies

The Spider-sense isn't outright mentioned, but it's clearly used in the fight scenes.

>all of peters friends are hispanic
This wouldn't be a bad thing even if it were true, but it's bullshit.

I believe his best friend is supposed to be native American, and his actor is a Filipino Hawaiian. His love interest in this movie is black and "MJ" is ambiguous in the movie but her actor is half German half African.

Peter knows Spanish because he's learning it in high school, which both makes perfect internal sense and can help set up Miles Morales.

>no mention of uncle ben or "with great power comes great responsibility"
An altered phrase already made an appearance back in Civil War, and I don't understand why you would like to go through the origin story one more time.

>>
>>84696766
Tom is a great Spider-man and probably the best Peter. Andrew is the best Spider-man but a lousy Peter. Tobey is good over all but very old-fashioned.

As for the movies, Homecoming beats both out of the water, while Amazing and the originals have different pros and cons against each other.
>>
>>84698748
How can you say it's used in the fight scenes when the example I give of Falcon's drone blind siding Peter is a clear example of no spidey sense?

Here's the clip: https://youtu.be/UgJa10XLf5Y
fast-forward to around 50

If Peter had spidey-sense in this scenario, he would have easily dodged the drone. In fact, this would have been a perfect scene to showcase it.

Also, my mistake in calling it a blind side. But still. This wouldnt have happened with Spidey sense.

>Falcon and everyone else is more experienced in battling meta/enhanced humans than He is, showcasing that even with greater strength and senses compared to these people, hes still a high school kid that is too fucking hyped to even focus because hes fighting with and against these heroes
>He is too reliant on technology that he is supressing his natural senses, "Okay? It’s just that…when…whatever happened happened, it’s like my senses have been dialed to 11. There’s way too much input so they just kinda help me focus."
>>
>>84699116
Were you reading Spidey comics back in the 60s and 70s?
>>
>>84699184
Well that's what I am saying.

At 23 seconds or so (20-24) he somehow realizes something is coming fast from behind him and he audibly acknowledges this and successfully dodges it.

But then a few seconds later Falcon blindsides him and the drone captures his webbing.

Make it is just inexperience but spidey sense is depicted way more OP than that

Perhaps they're actually making it a "sense" in the MCU, where Peter has to actually hone in to it to actually under stand it. Kind of like when you squint/or move your head to hear/raise your voice/sniff to smell a scent in the air

it all comes down to experience, My man, Spider is a whole lot stronger and smarter than cap in Civil War, but because of experience, Cap won their fight, its the same with Falcon, Spidey should have seen that coming but he's exposed to that kind of speed and maneuver in his everyday life considering hes only had his powers for 6 months, all hes faced are petty punch criminals, our topic is really interesting considering Vulture is the enemy for homecoming, i havent seen the film yet but he should be mroe accustomed in fighitng winged people

It's canon that this Spidey only has super-senses, no danger sense. According to Marvel/Sony themselves.

All he's good at is looking cute and timid, he's just a total wet blanket. Garfield was a little better but his Peter Parker was generally way too cool. Holland is the best by a landslide, because he comes off as dorky and insecure yet he still has that fire to him that Maguire totally lacked.

In essence it's the idea that all states in the union should have a common educational standard, but it seems to have been poorly implemented (from what I've seen, because the designers underestimated fucking retarded some teachers can be and how they could misunderstand some points in the curriculum) and right-wingers have latched on to this to demand muh state rights (which basically means >we can't convince the whole union about our policies but we sure as hell can convince the idiots in our state).

I'm not American, by the way. This is based from what I've seen, which is a lot because American education is honestly a hilarious topic for me.

I always hated new reforms in education. Not american either, but here, when I saw in hs, they would take points from high grade students and give them to low-grade ones to make them pass. Fuck that shit. That way the school gad less failling students and it wa sbetter for statistics or something. They didn't hide it, they even told all the students and everyone was okay with it. That's just retarded, but educational reforms don't have to be retarded. Educational reforms are good because otherwise education starts lagging with our actual knowledge (both when it comes to what is taught to students, and when it comes to how it is taught to students.)

Removing wrestling shit and making Peter directly responsible for Uncle Ben being outside at night, and making Uncle Ben's last interaction with Peter be a family fight is much more hard hitting than the Raimi origin, as much as it stays true to the comics.

Saw the film last night. I left the theater feeling like it was a standard Marvel 6/10, but then I slept on it and realize that it's actually pretty decent. Peter's characterization is pretty great, they use Tony Stark sparingly enough, his fat Asian buddy isn't annoying (actually pretty likable), and the romance subplot was basically reduced to a high school crush (which makes much more sense, given the atmosphere). Even some of the changes to the lore (Aunt May being younger, Vulture's new origins) actually ended up working for the better.
7/10.

I'm not really into cape movies, but I really like Spider-Man. I'd say I enjoyed Tobey and Andrew for slightly different reasons -- the Tobey movies are pure kino, and he just comes off as really likeable in every scene. The villains (the key to capekino) are particularly well handled, in my opinion. While my nostalgia makes them awesome, I think they are objectively pretty solid (if flawed) movies.

Maguire's actual Spider-man is a bit stronger for me, he always felt more lean and dexterous and sarcastic. Shame the movies were pretty sucky, dragged down by the unnecessary parent subplot and shitty villains.

Haven't seen Homecoming yet but am seriously not impressed with what I've seen. The Vulture looks fun, and the soundtrack is awesome, but for fuck's sake Disney shoehorning their Avengers brand in all over the place is just plain shitty. Holland himself seems like quite a humble guy, though.
>>

>>
Its a stupid argument. Their 3 different versions and arcs.

Tbh i think all 3 were great for their respective films. McGuires films are still better than Homecoming. Garfields script and studio failed him. Holland did an good job for the MCU spidertwink.

>>
Holland>Tobey>>>>>>>>>>Garfield
>>
>>84698428

I would say Garfield is the best actor, but an actor needs to fit his role. I know people like to say Garfield was the best Spidey, but I disagree. He was simply too mean-spirited and unendearingly cocky with everything he did. He didn't feel heroic, his transition from loner teen to selfless superhero never happened.

Tobey had the better script and a director who was smart enough to make use of his doey-eyed innocence when facing an emotional moment. Peter was isolated by struggling to do the right thing, Spider-Man got in a few verbal cracks at his opponents but was mostly focused on not dying (because those movies had actual stakes involved) and his soft voice worked while Peter and became just slightly and convincingly assertive as Peter. He also had the best "holy fuck what is happening" hero scream that Raimi made him utilize more than a few times.

People who harp on comic book accuracy are idiots. A movie's job is to pick and pull source ingredients in order to render them into a satisfactory narrative whole for a movie. Raimi's movies were the only ones to do that. Garfield on his lone is a better actor, but he was not a good fit for his role. For what the original movies were striving for, Tobey was the perfect fit.
>>
>>84696797
Is this like reverse order or something? Garfield was a ffantatstic and comics accurate Spidey, too bad movies suck and he was a shitty Peter.
>>
>>84703882
Garfield was a shitty all round Spiderman. I absolutely hated him as Peter though. Peter should be an awkward quiet nerd, not some cool looking twinkle doing sick tricks on a skateboard.
>>
>>84701401
I still felt that Raimi's was better. Again Uncle Ben was only out in his car because Peter was being selfish and lied to him. Their last conversation was Uncle Ben trying to give Peter some wisdom and he just threw it back in his face and told him to stop trying to be his dad. Plus Peter letting the bad guy go to get back at the wrestling guy who didn't pay him makes much more sense and has better impact than being pissed off you are a few cents short of buying some milk. With Raimi's I would argue that Peter is much more responsible for Ben's death than in TASM.

I really like the idea of Peter only thinking about himself and impressing MJ leading to Ben's death. It's that experience that seems to really drive him to prioritize being Spiderman and helping people over his own personal life and relationships. This idea of course takes center stage in the second one. I never got that feeling from Garfield that there was an internal struggle between being Spiderman and Peter Parker or any sacrifice he really had to make. Also with Garfield it seemed like his motivation for becoming Spiderman was more fueled by tracking down and getting revenge on the guy who killed Ben rather than wanting to help people. This is why I prefer Raimi's because Maguire gets his revenge and catches the guy almost immediately. Thus revenge is not his driving motivation behind suiting up.
>>
>>84703836
I love Tobey's scream when he's hit and stuff and how he yells while web slinging.
