Because it's trying to be a parody. It's got the even lighting and the look of the uniforms closer to TNG because that's what Seth is trying to evoke. That's not to say Discovery will be good, it could be just as shitty as people fear. But it's also riding on high expectations whereas Orville isn't riding on any. And Orville also isn't going to have any serious sci-fi or high stakes situations of any kind since it's a comedy. Good Trek was diverse, Nu-Trek is simply anti-White, with the only White male character on the new tv show being gay (both the character and the actor).
